Hey we have a 01 magna and anytime the gray tank gets above half we have a bad smell in the shower sink area........... Someone said there is some kind of valve that needs to be cleaned or replaced intermittently........ Is this true? And where would it be located. Thanks for any help

under each sink there is something like this: Hepvo Waterless Valve

sometimes they need to be replaced. The other thing to check is if you have a washer-dryer. We periodically put water in the washer to keep the odor from coming in the coach. We also have to remove the shower drain cover and clean just inside the drain periodically. Hair and gunk! For the gray tank we use: 1 c. of Borax powder dissolved in 2 cups of hot water and 1 cup of Dawn Platinum (make sure it's the Platinum) dish detergent after we flush the tanks. Never have an odor anymore.

Are you using the shower regularly? If not the trap may be drying out. Next time it smells dump a cup of water down the drain a,d see if it goes away.

I don't know if Country Coach uses the same design as Tiffin with air vents under each sink, but my guess is they probably do. Under each sink in our bus, Tiffin used a "Master Plumber 829-736 MP Plastic Auto Plumb Vent." We were getting grey tank smells and a repair guy suggested the springs in these things get weak, allowing gases to escape... and to replace them all with "Studor 20341 Mini-Vents". You can look both this and the Master Plumber up on Amazon. I just unscrewed the old ones and screwed on the Studors and bingo... problem solved. Hope this helps.

Just a suggestion to all. we have traveled for about 10 years 80% of the time. in between stops we will use the liquid dishwasher soap drain the tanks, flush them and put dishwasher soap in them traveling to the next. This is an old boat trick to clean the tanks like the dishwasher. we then drain and rinse the tanks and you're good to go. I do a similar thing when I leave the coach at rest , only I fill the tank up about half full with a heavy dose of vinegar say A gallon or two while being stored. I never have odors from either tank
