Hurricane vs. HydroHot

I believe I saw HydroHot furnaces/water heaters in the 04 Allures and Intrigues. I'd like to hear from some 04 owners about performance, especially whether you can get satisfactory volume of hot water on electricity.

When we ordered our 2004 Ovation one of the questions I had was what was hydro-hot and how did it work. What I was told was it was a new system being installed developed by the people at aqua hot. That it was diesel fired with electric back-up. It was more dependable, than the previous system, but that it could not handle heating the coach and continously provide hot water at the same time. Aqua hot could. Not, that it didn't have a very fast recovery rate. I, therefore, added the floor heat. When I took delivery at the fall rally I verified same. Plus I found after words that the electric elements could not handle needs of fast recovery. The system works better than a atwood water heater and a suburban furnace together and I don't have to plug in the engine out doors for cold weather. Plus, I don't have to drive with an open flame. I have not been able to figure out how much fuel the unit uses, but it must be small as I haven't been able to see a difference in milage over a repeated course, when I have used the unit in cold situations.(below 15 deg. F.) Even when I have neglected to leave it on, I can have hot water in just a few minutes using the diesel mode. I am curious as to how much the annual service on the unit is going to be and whether or not annually is really optimal? I read somewhere the other day that it would take 2 hours for the electric elements to bring water up to temperatue. Signs of leaking or fluid loss are not apparent, my only complaint is the four radiator coil blowers. At night I run the front two to keep the noise to a slow roar.. TOM/CAROL 2004 Intrgue Ovation
