Installing air filter / Mud flap is in the way..

Yahoo Message Number: 107965
I have an 03 Allure 40 foot. Im trying to replace the air filter. I guess I must remove mud flap.. Anyone do this before? How does the mud flap come off? Look like to me there may be 2 bolts in the frame. Or the 4 11mm bolts in the center. Hard to get to the bolts behind plastic.. Poor design or dumb driver. Have not figured that one out yet... LoL

After beating my hands and arms off trying to change a stuck water filter housing that is all but impossible to get to , I would think your first assessment would be dead on!!!!!

You are absolutely correct, after doing it for four years i took the mud flap off and left it off. I think someone said they actually got better mileage with the flap removed.

Bob, it is not hard to remove the mud flap. Get some tools and crawl under, take a look at the attachment nuts and bolts and remove them. Eventually, the flap will fall on you. I would suggest you leave the bolts on both ends and in the middle for last.

I have removed our mud flap now. But before I did, I just removed enough bolts to move the flap out of the way to get at the air canister. Did not need to drop the full mud flap.

And yah, it was one of those 'Duh' moments, where I realized that CC's were not supreme designed RV:)! (Though helping others, I've seen much worse!!!)
