Day Night Shade ???s

Yahoo Message Number: 8969
One of our Day Night shades has a broken string, so it's starting to go "catty wumpus." I have a couple of questions for anyone in the know: 1. should I just order a new one? If so, how big a deal is it to install it? 2. has anyone found someone who can restring these for a reasonable fee? What kind of business does this? (I've called some local blind installers and they won't touch it. Nearest CC dealer says to order a new one.) 3. Can I attempt it myself? I can't seem to figure out how these things work! SOOOO, if there's someone out there who has dealt with this before and can give me an idea of what is going to happen when I get into it, I'd love to talk with them!
Thanks...

We had the same problem on the shade by the passenger seat. We originally tried like you other alternatives. What we finally did was contact the manufacturer. They sent us the new string but there was no way we could restring it. So they told us to send them the shade and they would repair. They did this and were very prompt with the return.

We have friends who restrung theirs. You have to lay it out on the bed and restring it. If you want, I will email you their email address and they will tell you in detail how they did it. They couldn't find anyone to do theirs, either. Good luck

I have them installed at home and one of the cats ate through a string.
Called camping world got the name of the manufacturer, got them to send me a manual I've since lost, removed curtain, got RMA #, sent it back, the repair was less than the shipping and took about 4 weeks. TOM/CAROL 11731

I sent mine back to Country Coach parts who inturn sent it to a local repair shop. I had it back in less than 2 weeks for something less than $50.00. Removing and reinstalling the blind and its clips is easy after you understand how they work.

There was a thread on this group awhile back--maybe a year--giving a phone number of the company which make the shade. I needed to make an adjustment on one of ours and the person I talked to was very helpful. They would have adjusted the thing if I had sent it to them, but I was able to do it.
If you cannot find the link with the phone number--email me direct and I'll look for it.

Thanks...got the name and address, phone, etc. The string and the directions are on their way to me, so hopefully I'll figure it out.
(By the way, the name, address, phone, etc. I found out are on the underside of the bottom of the shade for future reference.

I had one of ours re-strung at a window covering installer in Beaverton, OR. Cost me $35 to have it re-strung and they had it for about a month. Next time a string breaks, I'm going to 'give it a go' myself. A friend did his but he won't check his Email so I can't get written instructions from him. What I may do when the next one dies, is to replace both of them (in the bedroom) with 'real' venetian micro blinds so I can get some air at night and still block the view. I'd like to shoot the guy who invented day nights!

We had one restrung by CC in JC. Probably Millies or Countryside did the job. We leave the day part down at night, no one can see in and we get plenty of air by using the fantastic fan for circulation. Mini blinds would be noisy as they are metal. That is probably why CC doesnt use them in the bedroom. Maybe Beaver (Monaco) does it differently.
