Oil pan damage

Well I did it, the usual 'setup' in the gas station and I eased out of the drive, through a dip, and drug the oil pan on the Cat. As best as

I can tell I only mared the surface and strached a 1/16 of metal off.
I can't see any other damage but not too sure what to look for, I was concerned that a tail strike might happen so I was very slow going through the dip and did not bang the rearend, but seems like everytime I try to prevent a problem I cause one. In this case, I wanted to put the coach in storage for a month or so with a full tank of fuel. Might have been better off with some condensation in the fuel.

Are there things I should check besides the obvious, cracks in the oil pan, damage to the engine mounts, etc. ?

Larry, just be happy you don't have a newer model coach with a plastic oil pan---that cost me about $ 800 to replace after a"slight" scrape. Progress, huh? If you're not leaking oil, I'dforget about it.

Larry,

I have scraped my oil pan twice. The second time I shaved off some metal, but still no leaks or visible damage. After that, I ordered a skid plate (about $200) from Country Coach and installed it in about two hours. You may want to check and see if one is available for your coach. I wouldn't worry about the condition of the pan if there aren't any leaks.

Every time I go into a driveway, a dip or off camber situation I use the raise button on the leveling panel & it raises my coach about 4". Don't the newer CC's have this feature?

Terry, they all have the "raise" feature, but sometimes you don't even think about using it until it's too late.

They all have it? Even Inspires? If so, how do I do it? And if I don't know about it, shame on Guraranty and Country Coach employees for not telling me about it. Nothing in my manuals....so maybe the Inspire doesn't have the feature.

Hmmmm...nope, we have Power gear jacks. Have never had a coach with air leveling. I wonder if I want it as I notice coaches that have air leveling seem to move around alot more than those with jacks.

When you are in the coach alone, you don't notice the movement. It is only when someone else is here that I feel it, occasionally. Of course if the wind blows REAL hard, I notice it a some, but I could feel it with my previous coach using jacks.

Seems to be some talk about plastic oil pans that I saw and remembered when I replaced mine last year at a cost of $165 that the pan was metal with a plastic or fiberglass covering inside. Have noticed recently that again, I have three large dings in the bottom of the pan but no leaks. I'm not going to replace it this time as am no longer so concerned with aesthetics, especially of something I don't see normally. Now I understand why so many have had a steel skid plate installed under the pan.
