Hi all,

I need to pick the brains of the here'in genius's. I'm totally stumped... my CC patience is fast fading... Saturday afternoon, for some yet to be known reason, I lost the 110 power to the front half of the coach on my 2000 36 Intrigue, it came back on after a half hour for about 2 minutes, locked in the satellite, and as soon as I tried to turn the TV back on, it then went off permanently. Micro and fridge are OK, both roof air's ok, bathroom 110 outlet ok, GFI ok, both bedroom 110 outlets ok, bedroom TV 110 ok, basement 110 outlet ok, all 12v works everywhere EXCEPT the over galley sink light (it apparently quit at the same time). Only that single 12v light, the TV, and the SAT were on, when everything went dead. No popped 110 or 12v breakers or fuses anywhere (I visually checked and tested every single one in all 4 boxes) both 110v and 12v are all okay everywhere else but those 7 outlets. My built in ShorGard showed an over/under voltage warning light, which the light went off shortly after the second outage. All 7 of the 110 outlets forward/inclusive of the galley are now dead, including the 2 hidden in the upper front header for the tv, vcr, sat. For 8 hours, I used my DVOM at every single 110 and 12v junction box I could find anywhere, I dissassembled the entire front overhead, and lower right dash, both front pillars, basement panels, and checked for loose connections at every tap. The Tropical Palms park voltage at my site 322 was kinda unsteady, surging at 115-118 at the time, both directly and digitally at the meter post, and inside the coach as well. Last night at 10pm it was 115, midnight 116, this morning at 6am my site was at 123, and I saw as high as 128 for a minute about 7am, then it dropped back to 122, until I then unplugged and left. The drawings show wire 519 running forward from the GFI, then to the rear TV... this is where everything dies forward from that point, from the leg 2, 519 wire, exiting the invertor. I cannot find the basement junction box for the galley 110 service. At the time, I was having front sunshades installed with rivets in the front body, and I installed a small pvc storage tube on a basement vertical wall. I can visually see to the rear of where I put the 3 screws in the basement walls, and nothing seems to have invaded any wires. The drawings abslolutely show no wires or boxes close to where I was screwing. The fact that it came back on, then off again, baffles me if I did cut something. If it's cut, it's cut, in my book. Each of the 10 dead 110 outlets now show about 1.5 volts, or less. Is it possible the inverter #2 leg crapped out? if so, that leg powers the rear TV, bedroom outlets and GFI, and they are all ok. I have had a ton of little electrical problems for the last 6 weekends straight since I bought it, and now this... I have spent $6,000 in the last 6 weeks getting this thing ready to use... I was at the 100% completely fixed/ready scenario, was gloating about the coach being now 100% perfect and running perfectly, then 5 minutes later ... POOF any opinions are welcome, i'm all ear's.. I need to fix it, and FAST. I'm very tired of 500 mile roundtrips to the dealer, who has been great to work with, but time is of the essence now..... thanx in advance.

Hi Jim,

All 120 vac outlets are wired downstream of the GFI outlet. It appears that the daisy chain is broken at one of the outlets.

Jim, try to guess the routing from the GFI to the 120V outlets.
Most likely, the disconnect is at the first outlet that fails, or the last one that works. Usually, those disconnects can be fixed by removing the cover plate, and unscrewing the dual socket and tightening the screws that connect the wires (or they are of the romex type, and are inserted into spring loaded holes, and the springs are weak, requiring to use the screws).

Good luck hunting this one down.

Jim, have you checked the two reset switches on your inverter? We had a similar problem and found one reset switch tripped. Reset it and everything has worked well since. About half the 110 system worked prior to the reset. John

I had this happen when my wife ran her hair dryer while the electric space heater was on. Turns out there is a breaker on the Heart inverter that pops. A real pain in the butt as I had to remove a bolted on metal cover in the battery compartment to reset that sucker.

Jim: I went through an almost identical power loss a couple of years ago. The culprit was the inverter. I have a 99 Intrigue, so wiring may be similar. All plugs died on the passenger side and overhead TV. The other side was OK.
On my coach the two 110 legs run through the inverter and are held in by wire nuts in the lower part. They are visible after you remove the front panel of the inverter.
In my case, the problem was created where the contact points on the front panel of the inverter meet the contact points (actually the ends of circuit boards) on the side of the inverter. This design seems programmed for failure because the inverter does not operate in a clean environment. Contamination enters, the points get dirty and corroded and you lose a portion of the power.
The way I diagnosed my problem was to rap on the end of the inverter with a broom handle or similar object. The plugs would come alive for a while, then die again.
The manufacturer told me to use contact cleaner or have the thing upgraded with gold contact points. That only worked for a few weeks. I finally opted to send the thing to the trash can and replace it.
In addition, I sealed the rear part of the inverter compartment with acrylic and made a front ventilation tube to feed clean air into the compartment.

There's a chance it may be your problem. Maybe not, but it's easy to diagnose with a broom handle.

THANX FOR THE REPLY'S.. especially the 3 direct email suggestions. Today everything works, either on it's own, or plugged into 20 amp warehouse service... no clue why, I didn't tpuch a thing overnight... just turned on every switch, and lights came on, tv on, sat on, everything is hot... the only issue now is the Echo Charger green light now blinks every 5 seconds or so, as before it was a solid light all the time, any idea's why on this??
