Engine Oil Pressure

I have a 2005 Inspire with a 400 CAT C-9 engine. Running at warmed up temperature, ~65mph, ~1400 rpm, my dash gauge reads 25-30psi. Is that low? What do your gauges read?

Also, does any one know of a certified CAT service center in the Dallas, TX area?

Good question ...

Our coach is at Lazy Days now getting the overheading retro plus some other little stuff. One thing on the list is the checking the oil pressure. The Silver Leaf readout says 17 psi at idle, and about 35 psi at 1500 rpm. Curious to see if this is normal. Cat C13.

I have had two Cummins and both said 10lbs at idle and 30 lbs down the road were minimums. Both were 15 to 25 idling and 40 to 45 running. Check your manual.. TWI ISC/ISL

John,

Check you CAT book, it will tell you what is normal. This engine will not run if the oil pressure gets to low. We are also at Lazy Days having our 05 Mag refitted for the overheating. Our coach is in the paint shop having the rear grills put on and some paint work done on the side grill. It is in bay 142. One of the things CCI is doing is putting a larger fan and motor on the radiator. The fan blades will change position as needed for better cooling. I never knew fan blades could rotate on demand. This is an expensive fan.
On Thursday our coach was pluged into an electrical post with an open ground which ment that our chargers was not working and our Silver leaf was not showing any power use. We had LDs move the coach and the teck who moved it said the Country Coaches will pick that problem up better then any other coach in it's class. There was a Discovery parked on this same site and it did not shut down because of the open ground. We were glad ours was build to detect this problem, however our neighbor at LDs said our generator ran several times before we arrived to check on it. I always say never leave your coach anywhere for repairs without checking on it daily.

Everyone I have checked with (CAT certified service, Country Coach, and responeses from groups) say the pressure is normal. If it really does get low, the engine will shut down.
