Skid Plate

I have read some posts about a skid plate for the 350. If anyone has installed one, does it help lift the hydraulic lines up and out of the way as well as cover the oil pan?

I do a lot of off roading and dry camp in some interesting places. I cringe everytime I drop off into a little rut going down those dirt roads.
We will be spending Thanksgiving in the sand dunes south of Slab City.
Would hate to get stuck out there.
