Silverleaf oil pressure

A while back there was a post concerning the silverleaf always showing oil presssure at 55. I can't seem to locate this thread. In any event I just discovered that my Silverleaf always shows oil pressure at 55, regarless of RPM. Any Clues?

We pretty much beat this to death a while back. Basically, according to Martin Perlot of Silverleaf fame, that after Cummins introduced the ISL they changed the oil pressure sending unit to a switch, allegedly there were problems with the original sending unit set up. Hence, with the switch it is not possible to read the actual oil pressure on a Silverleaf.
I spoke with Martin again at the September Rally he once again reiterated the incompatibility, but said that there may be a few very early ISLs that had the old sending unit and could read the pressure.

Yes, at the Cummins seminar at the homecoming rally, they stated that, due to a number of failures of the sending unit, they quit using the sending unit and began putting it a switch. When the sending unit failed, you were dead, as the engine shuts down and will not start. The switch will indicate 55 lbs. unless presure drops to something like seven lbs. (not sure about the exact number), then it will indicate zero.

Thanks for the update. I recalled seeing the subject in past posts but CRS wouldn't allow it to hit my memory cells. Thanks for the input. It is interesting that my dash oil pressure gage does read variable oil pressure---low at idle, high at cruise.
