Extended Trips

We were wondering how you deal with such things as mail, bills, banking, etc. when you are on trips in excess of 30 days. It seems the Post Office will only hold mail for 30 days and that seems to be the normal billing cycle for our creditors that think we should pay our bills. what do you do?

Thanks,

Most major banks will allow you to pay your bills online. Many even have it setup so that they will notify you when a bill is due, you sign up for online bill notification and then they establish a link to the firm sending you a bill. When the bill is available the bank sends an email to the address which you have provided. You can also set up automatic payments if you have recurring bills such as levelized utility bills. You can also have your mail sent to a mail forwarding service such as that offered by FMCA, Good Sam and Escapees. It's priced reasonable and service is good. Periodically, you call them and have them forward your mail to a general delivery address or to a fixed address that will accept the mail while you are there.

It's really not as difficult as it sounds.
