Inspire & C9 Caterpillar problems

Now it seems the Caterpillar is cause of all problems. Last night the engine grid air heaters were on when engine had not been run in over 6 hours. The Caterpillar error messages, Allison shifting problems & ignition power switching on when it should be off all seem to be sourced by the Cat.

Now trying to locate print with "GP1" as GP! controls grid air heater relays of is connector for control of grid air heater relays. My guess is Cat ECU controls air heaters directly and also is source of power on wire 34 when ignition is off.

Must find GP1 on a print or get print. My prints do not have GP1.

Why not deal directly with Cat, you have a 5 year warranty. Last year we had an engine problem at Perry, Ga and Cat sent 2 trucks from Macon to take out all our Acuator valves which took two days and cost $5000. Two men were in our bedroom for 2 days to complete the job and this was in a campground.
We have not had a problem since this repair and we were not disabled in the campground, we could have driven to the Cat dealer. The Cat rep at the CCI rally arranged this service for us at Perry, the rain and mud at the rally was a problem so we waited 3 more days to have the work done at Perry.

Unreliability of problem is reason we are not at Allison or Cat dealer until repair is done. They can't fix what is not broken in their presence. Intermittent problems are worst kind, just ask any electrical or electronic technician.

Sometimes the ignition can switch off & stay off as it should, sometimes the Allison shifts fine, usually the Cat goes when pedal is first pushed. Rarely do these problems appear in presence of dealer technician. When technician experiences problem, it then hides from his test equipment.

Today we have isolated a shorted grid air heater relay. With a new relay installed, we will test drive. If Allison shifts well & ignition circuits stay off when switched off for one day, we will assume another coach mystery is done.
