Cosmetic damage inside LPG bay.

Our Intrigue has no floor in the LPG compartment. Also, there is no mud flap on the forward end of the bay.
As a result road debris presumably kicked up by the front wheel has caused removal of paint from the metal cross members. Now with the wet season here, the exposed areas have started to rust.
I can fix this temporarily with a wire brush and a liberal coating of paint, but it did make me wonder about other coaches.
Do the newer Intrigues still have an open floor to the LPG Bay? Do any of them have a mud flap on the forward end?

Now thinking about adding a mud flap to our coach myself.

Thanks for the info on the problem with the propane bay as I call it. Had not thought of that possible problem and will install a mud flap this weekend to preclude any problem. Thats the kind of info we need to see on this website. again thanks

You need to keep the 'floor' open for ventilation. Go with the mud flap.

This is a good example of not doing any modification before touching base with CC factory service. They designed and built the coach and are invaluable in either approving or rejecting any modifications to your coach.

We have the same set-up on our '02 '36 Allure Sunriver 3S. I have been storing my rolled up outside entry mat in that compartment and was going to change because of all the road grime. The mud flap idea sounds good.

Sometimes these little problems are corrected as newer coaches are built but as we have had a response from 2002 model owners with the same problem it appears not to have been addressed by CC.

We love our coach but sometimes wish CC would have gone a little further on the details. It just seems wrong to have a beautiful paint finish on the outside, then open a bay and find a considerable amount of rust.

I realize this is not a safety issue and maybe I am being too picky but when other coach owners or friends ask to see the workings of the coach I would rather not have them see the rust.

We have owned 2 other brands of coaches and they all had open LPG bays, it is for safety. The mud flap sounds fine but don't close up the floor. Bill G
