House batteries drain

Just got an '04 Allure 40' and am having a problem with the house batteries (two 8D AGM's) dropping below 50% when the moho is at the storage yard and not on shore power. I turn the main battery switch located by the door to the off position when I leave. Two days later they are at 40%. Apparently something is drawing them down or they need replacing?

Thanks for any advice.

Just went thru the same problem and bought 2 AGM batteries you have> one thing to do is to also turn off the chassis batterie also make sure the inverter
is off !

I also recently purchased an 04 Allure. The other coaches I owned had a complete disconnect knife switch for the house batteries and never had a drain problem, on the Allure the switch @ the door does not completely kill the power, I have the same issue, although my AGM batteries are only 6 mo old and they discharge down to 50% after 10-14 days, sounds like a discharge that quickly either there is something else on or your batteries are weak. I now keep mine hooked to shore power. In storage it seems you would have a few choices, add some solar panels, install a knife switch in the battery compartment to eliminate all the drain, or set your auto gen start.
If I had to keep mine in storage with no 110 available I would either install a switch or solar panels.

I'm not sure that a knife disconnect switch would be a good idea. Yes, it would eliminate all drain, but some of that drain is the memories for all the computers/electronics in the coach. I'm not sure what would happen if the engine or transmission controller lost its memory...
I'd say a solar panel with smart charger would be the safest option.

High end coaches were never ment to be stored without power. At Lake Ashton we have 150 storage spots for those owners who do not have coach garages, each storage spot has 50 Amps of power and meter. It is much easier to put in 50 amps then fool with trying to overcome this issue.

Any vehicle, coach. whatever, should certtainly be able to be sustained by a 30 amp connection.

Heck, if all you are doing is keeping the batteries charged and the memories current, you can store plugged into 15 amps. Or hook it to a solar panel.

I went ahead and put in the 50 amps though, so I can run the AC when needed. Good thing, we got back from a long trip and the house was such a mess from getting ready to leave that we stayed in the motorhome for a few more days :-)

Ken The switch inside the door only secures the inside of our 2006 Inspire. There are 3 other main systems wired to the hot side of the disconnect relay and on our coach there is a 3.5 amp draw on the house bats confirmed by CC. The comment from them was, you need to be plugged in. Not always possible !!!! I added a manual disconnect switch on the house bats ( Cole Hersey ), like the one on the start battery.
This takes care of the drain problem and gives a way to shut down house bat power for safety, if needed. Ned Herrmann 51677
