Hi R D,

Look in your manual to see if there is a chapter on "watching TV with a digital tuner". It should tell you if your TV has a digital tuner in it or you need to attach a external one. Also review how to go into the TV menu and access "set up", and then CH set up. There is where you have the TV search for available channels on either antenna or cable. You need to perform the set up every time you change locations.

Chuck, I have done the channel search probably hundreds of times, so I am very familiar with that process. The manual doesn't have any info on "watching TV with a digital tuner", but there are several references to things like Antenna Set-Digital-Air, which says that in order to receive digital air broadcast, you need a digital antenna, but no mention of digital tuner. It gives instructions on confirming the configuration through "Antenna Setup- Digital, which I am going to go out and try now. There is also a "Troubleshooting Digital Broadcast" appendix that shows error codes, which I am also going to check. Lastly, I have e-mailed Sharp with my serial number to see if I have a digital tuner. I'm not holding my breath waiting on a response from them, but I may get lucky, who knows. Anyone wanting offer anything is sure welcome. Thanks

My coach was originally purchased in Nov., 2005 (2006 Allure) with a LC-37DSU Sharp Aquos. It has a digital tuner. It also has a bad power supply which is now being repaired by a Sharp authorized repair center. I believe the cause was heat. I have 2 fans on the bottom rear panel. They originally sucked air into the rear bottom of the tv chamber and out the top. The problem is there is no where for the air to go out the top. I turned one fan around. That way one blows air in and one sucks it out. Now that the tv is out for repair I'm going to drill holes in the side cabinet panels to allow air to escape and reverse the fan so that they both blow air in again. I am disappointed that the CC design dept. takes priority over engineering when it comes to how the interior is designed. There are several things that don't make a lot of sense on this coach. The tv air flow is one of them. Another is the outlets being on the bottom of the cabinets instead of on the walls. Another is the inverter having to have a fan to keep it cool because it was placed on a wall that has the engine muffler on the other side. -------but I digress!!!!!!!

Hi R D,

We have a old crank up batwing antenna on our coach. It has the 12 VDC amp in the antenna head. With the amp turned on, at our current location, we are able to pick up 18 digital stations in the area of Salem and Portland, Or. When I turn off the 12 VDC amp, I get zero channels. Thats the best I can do for you at this time.

Chuck, thanks for all your help. I now get 43 over the air digital channels, but no cable, so I have half of it figured out. Tomorrow I will tackle the cable issue It's strange, because I get the cable channels on my rear TV, but not the front.

Re: [Country-Coach-Owners] Sharp Aquos TVRD
I seem to remember in one of your earlier posts you said your tv had an ATSC/NTSC tuner. The ATSC tuner is your digital tuner. For a little more clarification on this subject, I have provided a link below.

I have no experience with the Sharp TV's so I cannot provide any additional info.

Hope this helps

Kevin, great info. I knew those abbreviations had to stand for something significant. With every ones help, I'm getting closer. Bert Novak's coaxial info is also a big help, but as you know, getting to the areas that need to be changed can be a nightmare.

First let me thank John, a non CC owner (at this time anyway) , for all the time he spent researching and putting together a step by step check check system to try to solve the problem of not getting all the channels on the Aquos. I have solved my problem and believe it will remedy the rest of you who have similar problems. If not, go through the steps John recommended, and hopefully you will find the glitch.
I figured that it had to be something in the initial set up and that is where I started. If you have your manual on the Sharp, go to page 31, to CHANGING SYSTEM SETTINGS. If you have a different book for some reason, find the section on CHANGING THE SYSTEM SETTINGS. If you don't have the book this is a condensed version of what it says.
1. Press the TV GUIDE button on the remote, then press MENU. In the EPISODE OPTION SECTION, toggle up or down to where it says GO TO SERVICE BAR. Press enter. Then press the sideways buttons to get to SET UP. Next press the up/down button to get to CHANGE SYSTEM SETTINGS. Press enter to display CONFIRMING YOUR SETTINGS. You are now getting close to where you need to be. It will show your zip code, etc, but the important part is the box just below that says, ARE THE ABOVE SETTING CORRECT? Toggle down button to say NO, REPEAT SETUP PROCESS, then push enter. This will take you to CONFIGURING FOR CABLE. You are now where the problem probably is. It will have a question, DO YOU HAVE CABLE SERVICE CONNECTED TO THIS TV. Mine was reprogrammed NO. CHANGE THIS TO YES and you should be home free. I think this will solve all the problems we have been having. Remember though that you will need to do a channel search at each different stop on your journey, but thanks to John, this is much easier now. When you screen comes up while doing this and ask you whether you want to search ANALOG, DIGITAL (air), or DIGITAL (cable), do the search only on ANALOG only. This will save you 15-20 minutes and you still get all the channels. John was right when he said "Sharp seems to use "normal" terminology in confusing ways. Boy is that ever a true statement. Don't worry about the ZIP CODE, because the way I understand it, this only has to do with the program listings for whatever area you are in, To me this is too much trouble and I don't use it any way. I'm a man, we just flip through 200 channels until we find what we want.

Good luck folks.
