My disappointing road service experience with Coach Net

Yahoo Message Number: 25975
We recently made the trip from AZ to WA and had need of road service in NV. We had a large bolt in the left tag tire and the tire was down to 40#,we were pulling a small utility trailer that threw the tread off the left tire at the same time. We were in Henderson, NV just after crossing the Hoover Dam. I called Coach Net and was informed that they would pay for someone to come out, but I would be responsible for all labor once the truck arrived. The dispatcher said CN would pay to put a spare on the tag if I had one, and if not it would cost approx.
$90.00 per hour labor if the tire had to be removed and repaired or replaced.I was also informed that the trailer tire would not be covered as they only cover ONE service.I was then asked which tire I wanted them to service. Since they could not find a Toyo tire that night we agreed to have the service call in the AM since we were off the highway in a safe location.

When CN called in the AM and restated that I could have one spare put on free and all other labor would be my cost I told them to wait and I would call back. I opted to put the spare on the trailer myself and drive slowly into Las Vegas to Flying J and buy whatever tires I needed and did not use Coach Net at all.
I would like to know if others have had similar or better service from other companies. My policy is up for renewal in Nov. and I would like to get another service that would cover whatever is necessary to get me back on the road again.I fully expected my road service would pay to repair the tag tire and if replacement was necessary,I would pay for a new tire. And your problem is....

None of the road services will pay for your repair or your tire --

personally I have had very good experiences with CN as follows:

1. last year on our old rig we had a flat tire while the rig was sitting in our driveway (slow leak); we are in the boonies and at least an hour drive from anywehere; CN paid for the tire service folks to come out and all we paid for was about $35 to have them repair the tire on the spot; if we needed a new tire then we woudl have had to pay for the tire and the mounting (mounting owuld have been $35); the price is from the local service company, NOT from CoachNet.

2. last week we had the stop engine light come on due to an oil
leak; they paid for the full tow charge. don't know what it would have cost me but it was a 40 minute drive for the tow truck and about 1 1/2 hours to get it set up for towing and another 1/2 hour to disconnect from towing.

Just curious. Did Flying Js have your Toyo tire? I inquired with them once and they said that they didn't stock 12Rs. Thanks

My road service experience with Coach Net

On a weekend at an FMCA rally in Pomona in a lug-strewn parking lot with hundreds of other motorhomes, we had a similar problem. However, Coach Net and "their" tire people responded promptly.
Of course, we were told that the tire could not be repaired and that we would have to purchase what turned out to be a 4-year-old tire being touted as new and the only one they could find big enough, and, also of course, we had to pay top dollar for it.

We were not happy about the age of the tire and we did complain to Coach Net about it, especially about being charged full price.
However, we could not complain about Coach Net's service on our behalf. And the "new" tire WAS installed safely for us by the tire people.

I too was not happy with Coach Net at first, but as time passed, I re-realized that I can expect a service like Coach Net to get help to me when I am stranded and don't know who to call. And, they did.
Because that help has been referred by Coach Net or Good Sam or whatever, I can expect that help not to shoot me, drive away with my belongings and leave me in a ditch. And, they didn't.

Regarding the tire quality/price issue, Coach Net's contact did say that she was going to send a note to the tire vender's file. I also requested that the vender not be referred to me in the future.
