Aqua Hot vs Hurricane???

Yahoo Message Number: 26222
Here's hoping you all agree that there is no such thing as a foolish question... Previously, we owned a 2000 Intrigue with a Hurricane Heating system. Loved the Intrigue, but for most of the time we owned it, the Hurricane had issues (circuit board, fuel pump, ingnitor, etc). Then we got the itch to move to more slides and now have a 2004 Genoa Inspire, with the "old fashioned", yet very reliable propane furnace and hot water heater.

While we love the space in the Inspire, there are several things about the Intrigue quality and handling that we miss, so are now considering a 2002-3, 2-slide Magna or Intrigue. Have not actually looked at any, but ads reference "AQUA HOT" heating for coach and water.

Is this the same thing? just a different brand? - better or worst?

Any comments are appreciated.

Thanks

Aqua Hot is the larger version of the Hydro Hot by Vehicle Systems. It is similar to the Hurricane, just a different company from what I understand.

Sue,

Aqua Hot and Hydro Hot use a different nozzle type which is made by Wabasco. The AH and HH use the Wabasco burner also which is a piece of tried and true eqipment which has been around for many years. The Hurricane nozzle has a finner spray and that is why it has more problems. The hurricane people say their nozzle complys with EPA s future regulations where as the Wabasco nozzle does not, don't know if this is correct but the AH and HH work much better then the Hurricane. When we had a hurricane we carried an extra nozzle so when the nozzle got dirty we could switch, the hurricane nozzle is also hard to clean. It also cost $75 at Lazy days. Both HH, AH and Hurricanes need to be used on a regular basis. If you let them sit to long they will not work when you need them.

IMHO, these are better heater's made by another venerable German company with lots of experience in heating large equipment: http://www.espar.com/htm/Specs/water/D9Wspec.htm Notice that it has 4 firing rates from 5KBtu/hr to 32.4KBtu/hr and does not use a nozzle so it never needs changing and seldom even needs cleaning since it burns so clean. Also rather than frequent on-off cycling like the Webastos, it tends to remain lit at the lowest firing

rate and is quieter IMHO. This also minimizes odor/smoke since the only times thes units tend to smoke is on startup and shutdown.
I have had one installed in a simple hydronic system in my coach for about 4 yrs now and I'm very happy with it. I really don't understand why Vehicle Systems & Hurricane feel they need to make their systems so complex and expensive when it is easy to install a much simpler, more efficient and reliable system. Tunnel vision??

Bill,

I have a Hurrican and I can take out the Nozzle and clean it by Spraying "Break Clean" through the Nozzle put it back in all in 10 minutes.
