Tribute Shower Disaster!

Going to use the shower yesterday, opened the shower door to find the shower holder had completely fallen off the wall.
See attached photos: http://autos.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/Country-Coach-Owners/photos/browse/feff As you can see the mess that was caused. The entire assembly fell off and rusty water sprayed all over the shower. Fortunately the door was closed, so the mess was contained.
Had the assembly been installed correctly, using Silicone Caulking, water would not have gotten into the assembly and rusted through.
I'm gonna start referring to my coach as: Country CRAP (CC) fits the letters perfectly.
I know one thing: If it were up to me, there would be alot of Un-employed people in Junction City, OR. I'd fire everyone who worked on or even touched this coach, from Management all the way down the line. PINK SLIPS for everyone! If you cannot see the photos in the attached link, look under the photo section: Tribute Shower Disaster.
You all take care.

Same thing happened to me in my 04' Inspire. Easy fix - did it myself in 2 minutes. No big deal. Should it had been put in differently - yes, but just like in my stick house some things are just not done correctly.

The same thing almost happened in our Inspire but I noticed the rusty water leaking out and removed the base. The screw was almost completely rusted through. Agree that CC should have used better hardware or sealed the source. Since the water gets in from the top of the rod holder it's not easy to seal and not look like c---.
Easiest fix was to drill a small drain hole in the bottom of the base/holder so water can't stay in there and use a stainless steel screw as a replacement; I replaced the upper screw as well just because although it doesn't have the same likelihood of rusting.
I also found that water can get behind the water mixture valve so laid a bead of RTV over the top half of the backing plate.
The early Inspires and Tributes didn't get the primo hardware - you need to spend another $250k to get that.

Hi All:

Yup, it was an easy fix. Just a mess to clean up. I too used stainless steel screws top and bottom, plus caulked it good with bathroom silicone. It's amazing what stuff you save from previous RV's, that comes in handy later.

It's just frustrating that so much keeps going wrong or breaking on this 2007 coach. We will be driving to Junction City in November for our Warranty issues to be resolved.

Hope WE can make it safely, without the AXLES RUSTING OFF TOO!

Take Care.

FWIW after the "break-in" period (pun intended) we're very happy with our CC coach; now with us for over 3.5 years and, unless a relative I don't know about leaves us a really big bundle, is the last rig I will be buying.
As you mention owning previous rigs yourself (I've owned several class A rigs continuously since 1975) I assume you know RV really stands for REPAIR VEHICLE.
We just got back from 3 months on the road and I have the usual list of 10 or so items to work on. Foruntately none of them is significant and most are changes we want, not need. Prime example - remote electric dump valves. How lazy can I get?
