Tecma Toilet

Yahoo Message Number: 34681
Friends,

I'm posting for a friend who has a 40' 2005 Magna with a TECMA Quiet Flush Toilet. This toilet is made in Italy but is marketed by Thetford in the USA. I think CC only used this toilet with the 40' Magna.

His toilet after flushing the water comes back into the bowl as normal, after a few minutes the water mysteriously disappears. Has anyone had this problem and had the solution to the problem with this model toilet.

Thanks, Mike

Can someone answer a couple questions for me concerning a 2000 42' Affinity?

What is the actual overall length? Many rigs are advertised as a certain length, but are actually a foot or two longer.

What is the front wheel cut? It has independent suspension.

Turning radius?

Wheelbase?

Actual axle or wheel weights?

Thanks much,

Hello Steve,

We purchased a 00 B&B 42' Affinity earlier this year. You can go on the CC site and get a few of your questions answered. CC provides some of the original specs for the 2000 year coaches. Unfortunately not any for the 42'.
Were on the road now, I'll run a tape sometime this week and send you my length. Need to know also.

Hi:
I had that problem. It was partially fixed by CC. It is still not correct. The pipe in the rear of the toilet is too low. My water level is OK after flush and then goes down to the lip in the bowel. It was worse than that. Call Jerry Wizeman at Thetford, 734-769-9732. He can probably help.

Hi Group, Just a quick comment on the length issue.
DMV looks at length differently from you and I. For example, a 40ft 6 inch coach may in some states be classified as a forty foot coach for registration and tax purposes.
They frequently do not worry about standard appendages such as mirrors that increase the length and width of a coach.
If a person needs the length to decide if it will fit his garage, an allowance for mirrors must be made and possibly for the ladder if so equipped.
It might also be smart to allow extra for a tow bar that is left in the socket.
Width is also of concern. Twelve foot wide doors will work but fourteen makes all the difference in the world.
Height should be considered. Remember, newer coaches have a higher roof line. Again, fourteen foot high doors work well, the only exception being the height of your flexible CB or Mobile antenna.
Not sure if this will help the original writer but use the information for what it is worth.

We have an 07 Allure 470 with the Tecma Toilet. When dry camping it uses way too much water. I have read the manual and read old posts and it is said that there is a dial on the back of the switch but when I feel around I cannot find it. Also, in the manual it shows a switch with a picture on both sides of the panel, one for regular flush and the left side for less or no water. Mine only has one picture/switch on the right side. Any idea how to limit or turn off water? Where to find the new panel?

Thanks
Doug

I have the same toilet in my 2006 Allure. Mine is in the medicine cabinet just above the toilet. Open doors and on lower shelf to the left you will see a cut out. Switch is there, left for less and right for more. The water under pump will fill to a lower level in my unit automatically. Under pressure, it goes to a much higher level. So I set my under pump pressure and all seems OK.
Just a note my valves exterior for drain were starting to stick, but I added the Tetford lubricate and followed instructions and was successful in improving movement. Internal sound was improved also. Good Luck

We have the same toilet- with just one switch/button for flushing. Newer units have two flush levels. Yours is 2 years newer than mine so I would have thought you had the newer model but apparently not. The dual flush sounds like a great improvement but I've been told you have to swap out the entire toilet, not just the switch and that hardly seems worth it.
The flush volume control is a knurled knob on the back of the switch unit. On mine I have to pry the whole thing out of the wall to get at it. The switch stays in place just through friction via a tight fit. So its not something you want to be adjusting all the time. I played with it to find a happy medium between not enough water to flush and so much that I'm filling the black tank too quick. It's a compromise.

I agree its not worth replacing the whole thing. I have a cut out in the cabnet above and you can feel around on the back of the unit and have not felt anything yet, I will have to pull the thing out and take a look.

Thanks for the replys

Doug et al:

We had '07 Allure 31499 and replaced the single Tecma control with the newer style. I did have to do some cutting of the wire harness and use the old plug. Worked like a champ and no toilet replacement required.
