Manual slide retraction

Yahoo Message Number: 50448
I have been a member of this Yahoo Group almost from its inception and I can't remember a single posting where someone related their experience in manually retracting a slide-out with the ratchet and all that crap they give you when you pick up your coach. There have been lots of postings about slide failures and hydraulic fluid leaks, etc., etc., but nothing on manual retractions. I don't even know where to look in the owner's manual for instructions on how to do it. But, I keep carrying around all that awkward-to-store equipment just in case I need it.

Brian,

I have had problems with the retraction and extension of our slides on our 05 Inspire. The problem was never with the motor, therefore I purchased on of those portable starter batteries. In each that I had a problem with the slide, I was able to remove the cable from the drive motor for the slide and hook up the pos/neg clips from the mobile battery and retract or extend the slide.

Stan,

You made my point. Like I said, I've seen plenty of postings about having slide retraction problems, but never one about manual retraction using the ratchets and other metallic gizmos they give you when you get your coach. I've owned Country Coaches since September 1, 1998, have fulltimed almost that whole time and have never had a slide problem. I'm just wondering why I keep having to find a spot to store those ratchets and gizmos. They are the most awkward items to store!!!

Brian, I too have been carrying the boat winch around for some time! I have thought of leaving it at home when we travel and then I think I'll leave it home and the hydraulics will fail(Murphy's Law)and I'll be stuck trying to push the slide in from the outside On my bedroom slide the winch is permanently fixed in place, so thats not a problem
