THE STORY OF THE EXPLODING ATWOOD STOVE

Yahoo Message Number: 50510
Some time ago I posted about my ATWOOD stove shooting flames out the front and sounding like it was expolding. As usual the form to the rescue, I was told it was a common problem and wedgewood would take care of it.
So I called Atwood and talked to Sue. She said I would need to have a tech check it out and then have the tech call her. I told her I was in the mountians of NC and the tech would have to be mobile. No problem they knew the guy I was going to call, he was a very good guy.
Tom the tech came out in a few days and sure enoungh "FLAMES SHOT OUT THE FRONT OF THE STOVE". A call from him to Sue, she would talk to the boss and get right back to me. Never got a call.
Tom called her back and Sue said the problem was they did not make that stove anymore. She could replace it with one the same size but it was different. No problem, send the stove. Problem, we do not have any of the new stoves. No problem ship it when you get it. Problem it took almost three weeks.
The new stove arrives and I call Tom and ask when he can put it in. No problem can be there tommorrow. I ask Tom if Atwood pays him direct or do I have to collect form them. He says I need to pay him. No problem lets get it done. A call to Sue to find out how I get my money back for the first call and the install. Problem, No return call.
No big deal, what's another couple of hundred. The big deal is I am out a couple of hundred and my new stove is the same one that was in the camper trailer my kids rent.

Sorry I forgot to tell you,

I could have bought the stove for $150 and put it in myself.

I posted my story about the Atwood "time bomb" in early April. Atwood was very responsive and replaced my stove with a revised version of the same stove. The problem, according to Atwood was that CC did not install the stove properly, ie. "O" rings not seated properly. The new version eliminated this problem. Rod5206 '07 Allure #31463

I have an 07 Allure and it is doing exactly the same thing shooting flames out after it has been on for a shot period. Your information is very helpful and will help get my problem corrected.
