Marvin,

It was me, and this is the one I am installing. I like the sliding type better since it requires the least amount of depth for operation.

Marvin, Take a look a the mounts offered by this store, www.rbwstore.com, don't know how to send this as a link. I purchased one of their swing out mounts that has a lock that prevents movement of the T.V. when traveling. It has worked great so far.

Marv, One of the reasons mine is mounted center on the slide is because a 32+/- TV requires an arm long enough to be able to install to the center of the TV. It needs to extend, for a 32" screen, at least 18" beyond the side wall you hang it on. This makes for a lot of dynamic leverage from the weight of the TV as you bounce down the road and if the base isn't installed vritually steel on steel it will pull out of the wall. If you want to be able to fold the TV/angle out you will need an even longer mount with a split pivot hinge. That's like a yard total length.A smaller TV will work better and be fine but if you want something like 32" I could not find a mount of sufficient strength or there was not enough room on the wall to anchor the mount.I am sure there is something available just be aware of the forces you will be dealing with while in motion. It needs to be strong and rock solid. With what I did the TV is sandwiched snugly between the bay door and slide tray and can't go anywhere in any direction. When stopped either with or without the slide extended I can move it almost anyplace to be seen from nearly any angle. Not saying its the only way but beware of how the thing could break. I think that is why every "factory" installed outside TV I have seen is totally fixed in place with no adjustments for viewing position. Even the relatively light weight TV's of today are still enough weight to require serious consideration. On our Inspire there is nothing of substance to mount to on the bay wall beyond the steel framing of the coach exterior. That area is not designed to carry weight. The slide tray on the other hand is well situated and anchored to handle the weight. Just some food for thought. Bob,I was thinking exactly what you said, it has to be long enough to swivel out of the compartment, but when traveling it should not take up much weight, as it will be folded together and some that I looked at even has a latch that connects the parts together so that should help so far as the weight when traveling... I want to make the best decision and I was still waiting to see if someone else will ring in with an idea, there have been some good ideas here with other things so don't let me down on this one...Thanks for your help and I still my go that route, just exploring now. Marvin, What I did was mount a 23 inch Sharp Aquios(maybe too small for you) on a swing arm in a bay. My wife made a cover and when we hit the road I take it off the arm and pack it in the coach. The only time I use it is when I am in aplace for a place for a while. Not the perfect solution but not bad and economical.

Marvin,

The mount I used is the P7010, the TV is a 22" and the mount extends to 16", doubt that is enough for a 32" TV.

Bill,

I have a 32" TV that I use at home and just wanted to take it for long trips but I do need some thing that will have a reach long enough for the 32 if possible., if I were going to buy another TV I would get a smaller one. I may do as someone else said, just carry it along and set it in the compartment when we are parked for extended stays...
I have seen some swivel mounts as long as 18" no according to how far I had to mount it in the compartment it may be long enough, since 1/2 of the 32" is 16" it may come out far enough to work. Would it make a difference in the swing length if the TV is a different size, would it not swing out the same amount? Marvin, 31459

The screen is measured diagonally to get the 32", not sure what the actual TV width is, but you need to measure it as there is housing around the screen plus maybe speakers on the side. Actual width differs between brands/models for the same screen size rating. The 18" is probably with the center swivel arm extended fully. This is the weakest position both because of leverage and the arm pivot is in the middle and therefore stressed the most. Extended you could only move the TV around that long extended arm. If that is sufficient for you fine but center mounting allows pivoting the TV away from the bay as well as rotating it towards the front or rear. With a side wall mount the mount and TV would need to be sized correctly to fit. If the arm is too short the TV won't fit within the bay opening, if too long it extends past the other side, folded it fits even worse. Center mount gives the full flexibility of the pivoting arm and is centered regardless of screen size. We do exactly as you are trying, I have a TV in the office I transfer to the RV when we travel. If I had bought something smaller it would be a lot easier but what's the fun in that?? I haven't seen a factory 30+ inch TV installation for any brand, they all seem much smaller, probably for several reasons the first being ease of designing an install.I considered a bubble wrap cover and just placing it in the coach as suggested. It made me too nervous that one forgetful moment, cover or not, would result in a worthless piece of plastic and broken paper thin glass. Mounting securely seems safer. Mine does not lock. Although I would like that it isn't necessary because the TV is thick enough it is exactly sandwiched between the bay door and slide. I picked up some adhesive backed foam blocks from an electronics surplus store in Orlando for the bottom of the TV to rest on but they aren't necessary because the mount is very stable. Used them anyway. I can see where it will probably take 20 to 24" to swing around and get out of the compartment...I measured the TV and it is exactly 16" to the center, give or take 1/8" so back to the drawing board... I kinda wanted the TV out of the way when not using it so as to access the compartment., I do have a slide out in that compartment. Thanks guys I will let you know what I decide to do..Marvin, 31549From: Robert Handren To: Country-Coach-Owners@yahoogroups.comSent: Friday, August 14, 2009 2:56:43 PMSubject: Re: [Country-Coach-Owners] Re: Swivel Mount for TV in Storage Comp..

Would it make a difference in the swing length if the TV is a different size, would it not swing out the same amount?Marvin, 31459 From: William Meinheit To: Country-Coach- Owners@yahoogrou ps.comSent: Friday, August 14, 2009 2:04:10 PMSubject: [Country-Coach- Owners] Re: Swivel Mount for TV in Storage Comp..

Marvin,

The mount I used is the P7010, the TV is a 22" and the mount extends to 16", doubt that is enough for a 32" TV.

My wife made a cover and when we hit the road I take it off the arm and pack it in the coach. The only time I use it is when I am in aplace for a place for a while. Not the perfect solution but not bad and economical. I want to make the best decision and I was still waiting to see if someone else will ring in with an idea, there have been some good ideas here with other things so don't let me down on this one...Thanks for your help and I still my go that route, just exploring now.> Marvin, 31459, allure 470> > > > > _____ __ __ __> From: Robert Handren > To: Country-Coach- Owners@yahoogrou ps.com> Sent: Friday, August 14, 2009 12:48:12 PM> Subject: Re: [Country-Coach- Owners] Re: Swivel Mount for TV in Storage Comp..> > > Marv,> > One of the reasons mine is mounted center on the slide is because a 32+/- TV requires an arm long enough to be able to install to the center of the TV. It needs to extend, for a 32" screen, at least 18" beyond the side wall you hang it on. This makes for a lot of dynamic leverage from the weight of the TV as you bounce down the road and if the base isn't installed vritually steel on steel it will pull out of the wall.> > If you want to be able to fold the TV/angle out you will need an even longer mount with a split pivot hinge. Even the relatively light weight TV's of today are still enough weight to require serious consideration.> > On our Inspire there is nothing of substance to mount to on the bay wall beyond the steel framing of the coach exterior. That area is not designed to carry weight.
