Basement doors

I live in Athens Ga, We had our 1998 Intrigue out last Sunday during some very heavy rain. Yesterday I opened my basement doors only to find out that we took on a lot of rain water while I was driving in the rain. The carpet was soaked. Any recommendations?

Hi?'

I climbed in the bay and Mary closed the door. I was able to see day light in a couple of areas around the closed bay door frame. I added door insulation in those area's. Mary did let me out.

Hey Chuck,

I have two bay doors that have leaked for I don't know how long. I have also risked being locked in a bay but saw no light. My wife, also a Mary, let me out too. Must be something in the name because I didn't deserve it. Anyway what is door insulation? If it works I sure could use some. I've tried about everything else.

I have a 2000 Allure, 36 ft. In a heavy rain storm I had three of my bay doors leak. I replaced the door insulation on all four largest doors. I purchased the self sticking insulation, about 50 feet, from Guaranty in Junction City. It is 0.563x0.750 inches in cross section, Guaranty P/N 13-0988. Now, no leaks. It was easy to install. I thought I would have to clean the old glue down to the bare metal. Started to do this--a lot of work. I noticed the old glue was solid and clean, so I just placed the new insulation on top of it. It is nice and solid. vlindster, Boise

Uh.....sounds like weather stripping to me. I guess it also insulates, or keeps drafts out.
I had some wet bays while in the monsoon in Oregon, and put weather strip across the top of the "bus luggage" doors on the passenger side. Applied it to the frame, and it filled the gap perfectly. So perfectly that I had to silicone the weather strip so I could get the doors open, but no leaks since. I probably will NOT go back to Oregon so cannot give a good report.
The weather strip was bought at a builder supply, and is shaped like 00 . Light tan color coordinates with my coach color, or they also have white.
