Update on Cummins fuel lift pump leak

Well, I tried tightening the three bolts that attach the lift pump and it seemed to work for a day, but I checked this morning and it was leaking again, so a friend of mine and myself changed the gasket. We didn't use the O rings I had on hand because we didn't remove the "head" (Cummins term), we just removed the pump itself below the head. My friend checked his ISL 350 and it was leaking too (75K miles). He set out to buy the whole pump/head assembly for $295 but the Cummins parts guys talked him out of it and told him that changing the $6 gasket will do the trick. So, now we will do his. He thinks we might have to pull the starter on his 350. We didn't have to on my 370. All we had to do was remove the three 7/16 bolts from the top of the head (basically a fuel manifold) that holds the pump to the head. Cummins told me today that when the gaskets deplete current inventory, you won't be able to buy them anymore. You will have to buy the whole $295 pump/head assembly. My friend got the last gasket at Cummins Orlando. And, Jacksonville did not have any. His 350 uses the same gasket my 370 uses, Cummins part number 4928511.
