1. Has anyone changed from Toyota tires on a 04 Allure to the Michelin XZA2 Energy tires? Likes, dislikes, Cost????
2. Did you replace the batteries on the pressure monitors and were did you get them?
3. I am in Tucson right not. Recommendations on where to get the work done.

Hi Al,

We put the Michelin XZA2 tires on this January to replace the original Goodyears. Just got back from a 5 week trip and loved them. Much better ride.

I'm replacing tires and have the same questions you do about SmartTire.
The Gen I system we have is no longer supported. We can't get sensor battery replacements. We have to upgrade to Gen II which involves installing and wiring new sensors, new antenna (two now), and a new display. The only place I know of that has it is Bob Dickman Tire in Junction City. The system is $899. Not worth it in my opinion.

No way to make the SmartTire system installed in calendar year 2002 continue to work once the batteries wear out?

I don't have an allure but on my 04 inspire I changed tires from the original toyos to the xza3 and moved my size up to 275/80R225. I paid $435 per tire plus the mounting, etc. The ride and drive improvement was unbelievable. I think anything you change to from toyo would be an improvement. Since I don't have any tire pressure monitoring devices I can't comment on that.

Hope this helps.

Steve

Steve,

Where are you located?

I have XZA3's 275/80R 22.5 H rated on my coach, and they are 4.5 years old thinking of replacement in the next year.

George,

My Smart Tire is still working but prob not for long. Expect that if it quits I will go to another system with the screw on valve stem pressure monitors. Checking out the different tires now. TX for the info. Al
