DVD Recorder

We are planning to replace the Tivo installed in our 2008 Intrigue with a DVD player/recorder. Any suggestions as to the best brand to buy.

I am in the same boat as Dave--need to get a DVD Recorder/player.
Any suggestions would help. Need it to fit the space that was occupied by the VCR in a '99 Allure.

Egon, Dave when we bought our 2007 Intrigue, used in 2008 at Guaranty in JC I had the guy who did most of the entertainment center work for CC come over and pull the Tivo for a DVD. So, assuming similar or the same cabinets and wiring, we got a Yamaha DV-S5750, which works fine. We are happy with it.

I purchased a DVR to replace our VCR it measures 3.1 (high) x 14.6 (wide) x 8.8 (long) from Dish Network. It is a DVR and HD converter box all in one (no satellite). It is the Dish DTVPAL DVR and was $299.00 I understand it is being replaced by the Channel Master CM-7000 PAL DVR which is the same unit for $399.00. You can see both at www.solidsignal.com. I ended up installing the unit up front and kept the rear VCR for now. The DVR must be turned off when traveling to avoid damage to the internal hard drive.
