intermittent power to slide motors

Just yesterday I was trying to retract the slides on our coach and no movement or noise from anywhere. Of course while trying to diagnose the problem the slides started to work again. While I am able to trace the electrical current for the actual slide motor operation, I not able to find the switch supply point. I have 2 slides. The livingroom slide is controlled by a switch in the overhead compartment where the awning controls are located, and the bedroom switch located in the bedroom. Are both of these switches powered by the same source? When the problem develops, neither slide will operate. I searched the wiring diagrams and I am unable to find the power source for these switches.

I had a similar problem with our slides about a year ago. I could get one slide to move, but had to shut off ignition, then back on again to get the second one to move. Discovered there is a 10 amp auto-resetting circuit breaker located in right rear compartment that was tripping unnecessarily, which I replaced. I also concluded there was not enough voltage available on just battery power, even though the battery tested ok. Since then, I leave the motor running until slides are extended, and start the engine before retracting them. That solved our problem. Hope yours is similar.

Had the panel with the controllers off and found the screws lose that connect the 12 volts to the switch. While the panel was out 2 wire came off the connectors! Wires were never cramp on to the spade connector, so I check all the wiring on the panel.

Tom, I believe that the distribution panel supporting the slides is in the service bay. That is the rearmost bay on the passenger side. In that bay you will find two things related to the slides. One is a 12VDC distribution box.
Also in that bay are the four relays for the slides. One each for in and out for each slide.

My relays were installed by CC upside down. I had a few failures of the relays before I flipped them 180 degrees. That is not your problem at this time though as a failed relay usually stays failed.
Your problem is more likely to be power supply to the slides. You did have the engine running when moving the slides? This provides adequate amperage to the slide motors.

I have had similar problems with my slides and have found that if I start the engine, the slides work as advertised. Since they work off the engine battery, perhaps your battery needs attention.

I was having problems with mine not working so checked the voltage to the pump and only had 9.5v not running and 9.9 running. Removed and reconnected all connections on the switch one at a time. Rechecked and had 10.5v not running and 11.2v running. both slides work running and only the bedroom would start the pump not running.
Check the voltage on the switch going to the pump. Sometimes oxidization/poor connections will cause the voltage to go low. If the voltage is low it won't pull in the relay for the Pump (but the directional valves may or may not be working on the lower voltage). If you can get either slide switch to start the pump running you can move the opp. slide by having the switch key turned on and having someone else active the retract/extend switch on the opp slide while you run the pump on the other one. Don't let the pump run for more than 10 sec. without a slide moving.

I should have mentioned that these are gear driven slides. I haven't tried with engine running, just ignition on. Of course now everything is working as perfect as it gets. The chassis battery is new, and was only replaced because it came with the coach. When the problem is there, I do have 12+ volts at the terminal feeding the motor relays. I checked the ground resistance at the relay board and had 5 ohms from that terminal to the chassis battery itself. Maybe that is enough resistance to keep things from working.

Tom, I have an 03 Allure 1st Ave. with 2 slides. I just recently had an intermittent problem operating the Galley Slide. I'd push the Rocker Switch to open and would hear No Noise, then all of sudden it would start and move.
Guess What, it was the Rocker Swith. If you pull the panel holding the Rocker Switch you should find the switch has 2 rows each with 3 contacts. One row for extend, one row for retract. The three contacts are Power, Retract, Extend, I stuck a pocket knife blade into the contacts to determine it was the switch. If you have an HWH system they'll have them in stock.

I have a 1998 Intrigue with an Allison 6 Speed transmission. The DO NOT SHIFT LIGHT stays on all the time when the ignition switch is on and won't go out. The engine starts up fine and the light goes out but when I try to go from Neutral into Drive or Reverse it won't shift into gear and a buzzer goes off. When I try to read the fault codes off the shifter pad there are no code numbers when d-1 thru d-5 are selected. I checked the idle and it appears normal; it is about 600-700 RPM.
Does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be????

I had that problem several years ago and it turned out to be the KING throttle control. I replaced it and no further problems. You might talk to KING.

Tom, the 2004 Allure Owners Manual advises to have the engine running when actuating the slides.

Mike and everyone: I do not know if this applies to your Allures, but I have 2002 Magna with the rare HWH electric front slide. My slides were intermittently failing to operate as well. HWH helped me trace it to a central relay that lives in the electrical compartment under the driver's seat on my coach. It appeared to be OK, but when we measured the resistance, it was way high. HWH informed that CC used cheap Chinese relays in this application. I got a new higher quality one and have never had a problem since. It is a black cylindrical thing with four terminals (two big and two small) mounted on the wall near the front run board.

You may already have the info in the attached file for temporarily resetting the DO NOT SHIFT indicator. May be enough to get to somewhere a full analysis can be done.
Most of the time, wiring harness connections or bad wires are the fixes.

Simultaneously press the up and the down arrows once. On the lever-type selector, push once to gain access to the diagnostic code information. 3. Press and hold the "Mode" button until a tone is heard, and then release the button. The transmission may return to normal operation. If the condition is temporary, the "DO NOT SHIFT" light will not come back on, and the transmission will operate normally.
If the condition is not temporary, the "DO NOT SHIFT" light may come back on. The type of operation permitted by the CPU will depend on the type of condition. Under certain circumstances, a shift from neutral to an operating range may not be permitted. This situation will require immediate attention."
