Back up camera - no pictureafterdisconnect

We are currently in Auburn Indiana. Just got back from the ACD Museum for the second time. All the

Cords, Auburns and Dusenbergs! WOW!!!!!!!!!! Their auction is in two weeks, but we'll be gone by then.

We just left Amish territory and RV central. The plants are busy turning mostly 5th wheels and trailers.

Newmar is cranking out about two coaches a day. 500 to 600 this year.
Still don't like their methods,

chassis and fit and finish. They have gotten bit by the CC paint bug as have Monaco and the rest. There

still a place in this world for CC. Its a shame the Howards blew it by being greedy and pissing off
existing CC owners.

Glad you got home in one piece. We are really between moods now. As longs as we can find some

museum or event to keep us busy we are happy. But the scenery and the weather are very depressing

and we are both ready to come home and see some moutons, clear blue sky, and open spaces. The grey

over cast, rain, and high humidity are a pain in central America.

How are you doing on the body work? Take care! Tom and Carol

Glad you asked. Dean Ansely gave me the name of the panel door maker and I called them. All my parts are kept by them on prints and are matched to my serial number. So now all one has to do is straighten some of the frame work below the coach attach doors and paint. This firms says they can match the paint so I am going with them. However, a small glitch has come up. On the side opposite the damage, (Drivers side) I found a paint blister on the molding surrounding the big slide. Same issue I had on the 2003. So I am now stuck my vendor does not seem to want to tackle that issue even though he is opening the can and putting on the same color on the other side. He has cautioned me to get some additional ground protection especially when hook up to power. I trusts this gentlemen he has had plenty of chances to screw me if he wanted to. So CC told me in 2003 that there were only two places to get this electrolysis repair done, one in Florida and the CC Plant. Well when the work was actually done, Guaranty did the paint.
So CC past has no credibility, now this issue has come up fast. Three weeks ago no blister today it is almost one inch is diameter. The spot covers most to the slide frame in one spot. It has not become a bunch of little blisters like the 2003.
Parts are on order but I am at least two weeks from parts being shipped, so what would be your valued suggestions. I have not pressed current vendor for a answer. (Cal Western in Santa Fe Springs in CA.)
I was going to call him Monday and see what he suggest. I am almost sure he will agree to paint the area but with no warranty. Your valued opinion would be apprecated, it might just be worth a bottle of my speical stock that I keep hinden in my house.
I see Dean Ansely Monday for lunch so will ask him also, thanks!

Please share the name of the panel maker if they have other CC owners measurements and paints on hand.

Jim, a friend of mine was sent to Florida by CC when they had a National RV repair facility there. They did a pretty good job for him, but after 4 years the Slide Room Boarders are now starting to blister again.

Jim... Are you saying the paint blister is caused by electrolysis???
I know nothing about paint, but do know a little about electrolysis, if that is what is causing your problem...
One of the primary problems with motorcoaches is the multiple power sources such as multiple battery banks, shore power, a genset, etc.. If all power sources are not properly grounded to the frame of the coach, minute differences in potential (voltage) on the various metal parts of the coach can result in electrolysis...and can do damage rather quickly...
Along with that problem, we also have the various systems found in motorcoaches such as Air Conditioning/Heat pumps, furnaces, lighting, fridges, freezers, etc., all of which are possible contributors to the problem of various potential differences on the metal parts and pieces that make up your motorcoach...
The "fix" for electrolysis is to eliminate the differences in potential (voltage) between the metal parts, and it can be done only by making sure each and every voltage source is grounded to the frame of the coach, and each and every user of potential (voltage),such as the appliances, are grounded to the frame... In addition, all parts of the frame that are not welded together must be grounded together in such a way as to eliminate any difference of potential...
Elimination of electrolysis can be a big, time consuming job, but can be done by the individual... To do so, it will be neccessary to connect everything that uses voltage to chassis ground with copper braid. Use solder lugs on the ends of the braid, and make sure all of the places the braid will be connected are "bright" and clean...
Electrolysis can really be a problem on older coaches due to the fact that the various ground connection oxidize over the years and cease to make good electrical connection to the chassis...

Good Luck!
Buck

The paint blisters on the trim of the CC slides is caused by improper cleaning and paint pretreatment materials if used at all on the aluminum extrusions When done correctly the paint will provide excellent service. BOB 06 intrigue 12047

I agree and am going to proceed under that assumption. Just lack of preparation. Thanks for your input. You should understand that this is two out of three CC's that I have owned since 1998. All units after 2003 have blistered is some fashion. To bad I thought the warranty would last on this issue for sure, but here I am.
