They offer very good advice as well as he may have some used older units. He may know of some way to get your executive working again.Mike Edwards 03 Lexa Quote Selected
Re: Satelite on the the RV Reply #27 – December 08, 2010, 11:13:06 am Yahoo Message Number: 66297Al,You can send your old Sony to their repair center. I have sent mine in 2 times and the turn around time is fast and I think the cost was about $70. I can get you the info if you need it.Richard Aquino 2001 Intrigue Quote Selected
Re: Satelite on the the RV Reply #28 – December 08, 2010, 11:28:17 am Yahoo Message Number: 66300Dir tv is now claiming they will no longer ativate the old sonys. if anyone knows different let us know. The Exec 111 controllers with a proper working old sony will still work great. But if they are indeed not activating them any longer, customer will be forced into the purchase of a newer controll box, not needing a Data Port.Dale Morris Quote Selected
Re: Satelite on the the RV Reply #29 – December 08, 2010, 11:52:30 am Yahoo Message Number: 66302Dale,I wanted a backup Sony, since mine was in for repair twice, so got a used one this past January and Directv had to activate it since the serial??? number was different. Don't know if they will still do that or not but I hope so. I have not changed out my old KVH so I have to use the old type of receiver with the data port. If I had just put the original Sony back in, after being repaired, activation would not be required.Richard Aquino Intrigue 2001 Quote Selected
Re: Satelite on the the RV Reply #30 – December 08, 2010, 11:54:21 am Yahoo Message Number: 66304Forgot to mention, the low speed data port was one of the biggest failures with the old sonys, but the receiver will work still ok, if you replace to a newer controller from Motosat. But if you ever loose your programing, (not pointed for 30 or more days), DT refuses to rehit them.Dale Morris Quote Selected
Re: Satelite on the the RV Reply #31 – December 08, 2010, 12:00:57 pm Yahoo Message Number: 66305I have with in the last month, had serveral customers needing a new controll box, because DT would no longer activate the old sony. One of them, had several old sonys, but they just would not turn any on anylonger, The did send out a new box, but then he had to have a new controller. Also new policy from Direct TV, they will not be available in any store any longer, and only available from them directly, and will have to be shipped to your address they have on there records. Not too fun for the rv world if you have problems.Obama promised change, maybe this is the one he actually changed.Dale Morris Quote Selected

Re: Satelite on the the RV Reply #33 – December 08, 2010, 08:16:04 pm Yahoo Message Number: 66320Dan, I believe he was trying to give away a Datastorm by motosat, that was designed for internet, with a tv option. They were 110 lbs, very slow aquiring satellite, but they did work if set up proper. I have seen many that people want to give away, and I never take em. On the other hand, any motosat tv system, that is not a dome, I will take any anyone wants to give away. They have been great product since 96, and no other company has come close to all their capabilities. I will admit, as I have before, the Winegard of new (within last year maybe two) has been a good system. The first in many years of building what I would consider junk. Motosat's HD system for tv, weighs in about 35 lbs, and comes with a mounting plate 13.5 in, by 35 inches. Quote Selected
