Stop engine light coming on (answer)

Good Morning Country Coach type people...Gordo here.
As some of you may know, I was having an issue with the stop engine light coming on under medium to heavy fuel loads. After 11 long (and painful to my pocket book) trouble shooting hours Cummings West in West Sacramento, Ca. found the problem.
Seems one of the fuel filter "housings" had a micro crack in it. Would not leak fuel, but would suck air into the fuel system when medium to heavy fuel load were present. Why on earth this happened Cummings West didn't have the answer. They did tell me, it was the first time a fuel filter housing didn't leak (air or fuel) while at idle. Leave it to my MoHo to be the mystery unit.
Gave it a test drive from Sacramento to Bodega Bay last weekend. All systems go! Not even a hick-up! Towed my Lincoln mkX (yes a fancy Ford Edge, but with A/C seats ahh) to make sure my fuel issues were a thing of the past.
So if your stop engine light comes on, you might want to let the repair shop know about my fuel filter housing issue. Just might save you a few trouble shooting green backs. My unit is an old school 1999 Allure.
May all your point n shoot MoHo road trips be filled with new landscapes and nice neighbors (who do cocktail hour).

Ken here Retired Cat Tech, Having the same coach I changed the Two Fuel filters by chance and problem went away, I posted this a while back, Glad we share Knowledge, Working for Cat on Diesel engines most of my other life, Yes Micro cracks and SAND HOLES IN Castings occur! I spent most of my troubleshooting time on air in fuel on cold starts. In my service truck I made up Clear Plasitc hoses and would put a 5 gallon fuel bucket atop the engine for test only set over night and start to engine and Yes air bubbles would occur! Having done this many many years this is how I was able to fix the problem. Yes no fuel leaking but air! I Have in rare cases have had castings, Housings, Injectors etc. Yes the bill was high to the Cust but most of the time we lowered the bill as good will to the enduser. Again I was shocked after cutting our Cummins/Fleetguard filters apart and finding less then half of the can having an element in it. Cat Fuel filters have a complete element filling the Can. Have replaced the filters two years later with NAPA'S I cut them in half and found them the same as the Cummins/Fleetgaurd! What a ripoff! BTW like you no more red engine stop lite and engine hikup! Thanks for sharing. Had the coach in at Cummins in Yuma AZ. and had the tech check for codes and fuel pressure after having them relpace the Cracked Exhaust Maniflod. Ken 99 Allure ISC 8.3.
