Bus Kote vs Rhino?

Yahoo Message Number: 71627
I've added Bus Kote to our 'To Do' list. I did see a local San Diego RV place, advertising Rhino spray on coatings. Shows a RV being sprayed on.
Did not know that Rhino made a roof product, and not sure if it is just for non fiber glass roofs, but don't see why it would not adhere to any roof surface?
Will do some more research, before putting on a roof coating. But, thought I would ask if anyone had heard anything about the Rhino coat for roofs?

Does Rhino come in white? The lining they spray in trucks oxidizes in only a year or two and must be treated to restore the original appearance. Keep us posted on what you discover.

No experience with Rhino but so far the Bus Kote is working out very well. We've not had any real hot weather yet but have noticed the "Rate" at which the temperatures inside the coach change is much slower.

Find out how much weight it will add to the coach.

Ditto on the weight. I have used it in the bed of several trucks and I did the entire inside of my jeep but I wouldn't do the jeep again because of the weight

I checked on Rhino a couple years ago...and yes, they have a white coating that can be used on a roof.............the question I could not get answered was, "will the constant movement of the RV cause cracking in the Rhino covering?"...........no one seemed to have a complete answer when I asked that question..

I am not sure if there is a more complete answer at this time.
At this time we have decided to use Eternabond, around roof vents etc, and then Bus Kote over the top of the roof.....plan on getting it done next spring

Larry,

Yup - HyTech told us to coat all your seals as it will help seal them again. We just finished our roof and it is blinding white. We hope to see a difference in the temperature as we are driving from Southern California to Oregon next week. We did the job ourselves and saved a bunch of cash in the process. It wasn't a hard task - just slow going since we didn't want to fall off the roof. It sure looks nice and clean so we don't want to get it dirty - LOL.

Yes...I asked...it can be applied over Eternabond...We plan on sealing all our roof vents etc with Eternabond and then painting the Roof Kote over it all.....should be a great fix....after reading the note from Stan I am thinking about also coating my sunroof over the shower....I like the light....but the heat it generates leaves much to be desired.

We are also going to seal the roof of every slide out room....under the awnings, with Eternabond....as of now we have had no leaks there....but I will do it for preventative measures.

Mike,

We used the Buskote primer Bond-It, then 2 coats of Buskote and then 2 coats of FlexiClear their clear coat. They told us it would help the seals and we did make sure all the seals were good to start with. We also did our shower skylight which was the dark smoke colored plexiglass or whatever. It has darkened it inside a bit but to stop the amount of heat coming in that space was well worth it. We shall see how it all goes next week. We also decided to put 2 coats of clear coat on the edges after we peeling the tape off that gave us our line. You only see the color off the roof when you go up the ladder - you can't tell from the ground we did anything.

That Bus Kote might be a little rough on those slide out seals?

Not putting Bus Kote on the slide outs...only using Eternabond along the front and side seams. We are using Eternabond and Bus Kote on the main roof of the coach only.
Although it sounds easy enough, will probably have it done because of health issues..
