Hydronic heater

I was able today to fireup the hydronic heater via diesel to attempt to use for heat.
The hydronic works fine in both electric and diesel, but when I set the thermostat to gas and set the temp, I don't get heat (no fan) out of the heatercraft units in the kitchen, etc. The manual says the fans come on automatically but nothing. What am I missing? Roger

We're in Eastern Washington; been in upper70's to low80's and then last night big storm and into the 50's so decided to try out the system since the coach is new to us and wanted to check it out anyway; good test but no fan

Hello Roger, your coach sounds to be the same as mine as I have an 06 Intrigue #11997. Your HydraHot operates in two zones (zones 1 and 3) with zone 2 being just AC and heatpump. In zone 1 there are two heat registers, one located in the kitchen/galley area and one located at the bottom center of the dash. When you activate zone 1 via the thermostat, by selecting "gas", are both fans (heat registers) in zone 1 inoperative? In the event both registers appear to be inoperative, I would check the fuse/breaker for those registers. You may have a problem with the thermostat itself if all else checks out okay.
In answer to the question that was asked by Mike with the Lexa, the thermostats supplied via coleman to control the heating and cooling do not have a setting labeled diesel. They do however have a selection for gas which must be used in conjunction with the diesel burner to produce heat to the coach.

I've already checked the fuses in the boxes and below the driver in the bay. Are there separate fuses in-line at each register? None of mine are working, both upfront and in the galley as well as bathroom and in Zone 3. I couldn't tell from the wiring diagrams or the drawings of the hydrohot. All fuses connected with the hydrohot checkout alright. Thanks for sticking with me on this one,

I had this problem several times. There is a collection of Bosch relays that controls the fans in the heat exchangers. In my case I had a bad connection. On my bus the green hydro-hot ground wire is lugged to the frame up in the storage bay closest to the plumbing bay. That ground wire was loose as well. I also removed the connectors on the control board and cleaned each one. Also check the cinch down screws on the wires. I'm not familiar with the Intrigue but perhaps my experience might shed some light on your problem. Good luck

My hydronic is Diesel only, so I'm just guessing here.
I control the hydronic with a couple of switches that are completely separate from the thermostat. As I recall, The thermostat runs the fans even when the boiler is switched off. When the boiler is on, it doesn't care about the thermostat, it just cycles based on the fluid temperature.
Maybe you need to leave the thermostat in the electric position, even when you have the diesel burner on, and the electric element off.

Mike, the electric selection on the thermostat is there to select the Electric heat pumps that are part of the Air Conditioning Units mounted on the roof. It has no connection to the electric heating element that is part of the HydraHot. I know this sounds confusing, what with different controls having the same labels.

Ah, that explains it. My thermostat is different. It has settings for "Fan", "Cool", "Heat Pump", "Furnace".

Just FWIW, my Hurricane hydronic heater has two electric heating elements. To run electric hydronic heat, I turn off the Hurricane diesel burner, turn on the electric elements and set the 5 button thermostat to FURNACE (as I would if I wanted use the diesel burner), and I've had good performance when the outside temp was in the lower 30s.

I haven't been able to locate the relays and wonder if you could help me understand where they are located. I have the hydro hot tank and the panel but don't really have any direct controls of the hydrohot other than the thermostat and three switches inside for electric, diesel and engine preheat.

Coach # 11422 2002 intrigue. Posted a few weeks ago about problems with my hurricane heater, received suggestions from members that helped get me fixed up. My solution was to drive up to Vancouver Wa. And have ITR fix my unit. Highly recommend going to them for any service issues with your unit. Tech support manger is Kevin Lambert and he is very friendly and knowledgeable about the products they sell. Kevin went out of his way to help us. Our comfort control station was wired wrong and he fixed that and also fixed my fresh water pump electrical problem. Last February we went to Country Coach to have the hurricane fixed and they charged me a lot of money and did not know what they were doing. I am telling members this so you can be informed about my experience with CC in Junction City and thus make your own decision about supporting their service center. Good + and - feedback which is helpful. Interesting CC screws up the wiring then bangs you on repairs. I also had mistakes made on factory wiring dealing with sub-woofer and the lighting system. Luckily I was able to fix these problems. On the lighting issue I needed to call CC.
I can say they actually picked up the phone and a knowledgeable tech guy walked me through the details. Very nice. That was 1-2 years before CC went belly up. The days of that level of service are gone now. Sadly me thinks never to return. An interesting posture given CC's jaded past and their re-entrance into the market place. One might think the smart thing to do would be to handle all customers with an extra measure of care, concern and fairness. As in letting customers leave with a good impression they would likely carry forward. We're not splitting the atom on this one.
