Anyone Familiar with a Cat CX31 Transmission?

Yahoo Message Number: 75522
I just saw a couple of Country Coaches listed with this as their transmission, which is the first I've heard of them. They're in fairly late model Magna coaches (2008 & 2009). I didn't know CC used anything but Allisons.
Anyone had any experience (or heard rumors?) about their performance and reliability?

Thanks in advance!
Mark

Country Coach tried to introduce the Cat transmissions earlier in 06 or early 07 Intrigues I believe. But the units at that time had square cut gears and were very noisy. So Cat redesigned them and CC returned to Allison. I understand they are rugged and dependable units with a good history in field use.. They were used with Cat engines and the Allisons with Cummins units. Sometime in late 07 or 08 after it was announced Cat engines couldn't meet latest emission standards, CC was forced to use Cummins and Allison units exclusively as a forced option and increase in price. Some folks were happy because the ISM 500 became available which didn't have particulate filters and other issues for larger Allures and Intrigues. It wasn't as strong as the C-13 however, but got better fuel milage. It was retired with the introduction of the ISX 11.8, which was a liter larger with higher torque and all the gadgets making it 2010 legal and capable of meeting higher standards down the road. Because Cummins had earned enough points with the EPA with the ISB

We have that combination In our Rhapsody. We put 3k of the 52k on her and seems to be a solid combination. It shifts a little harder than the Allison/Cummins in our old coach, but not a fair comparison because this coach is about 20,000 pounds heavier. The engine brake works very well.
There was a recall on the C15 engine, so make sure that has been done. I don't remember the specifics on that though.
