Cummins lit pump gasket material?

Yahoo Message Number: 75555
I have changed my lift pump gasket three times on my ISL 370 over the last 15K miles and it's leaking again. I guess the gaskets I purchased from Cummins were the old style nitrile (sp?) that shrink from ULSD. I'm thinking of making my own gasket. Anyone know what would be the best gasket material to use with ULSD? TIA

Until ULSD came along, nitrile rubber was the product of choice. Now, various types of Viton seem to be recommended. I found ULSD MSDS. On page 5 notice both recommended and unsuitable materials. Hope this gives you a starting point.

Before I joind this Group I replaced the entire lift pump I bought at Cummins here in Yuma. Going on three years a holding out. The parts guy told me there is no recon on this pump only new. After joining this group I have learnd you can get a seal. Since our coach was nine years old at the time I went the total Replacment route. I did it my self so no labor issue. My 2 cents.
