New CC Policy

We discovered that both the transmission mounts on our 2004 Magna need immediate replacement. Of course, we contacted the new CC to see if they might have what we need. They said they would contact the original vendor to see if they would give CC a quote to fabricate the part. CC has the drawing needed to manufacture the mount.
We asked if CC could fax/email us the drawing so that we could get an estimate locally (we are in Omaha). CC told us the would not, as the drawings are "proprietary."
We find this to be an incredibly short-sighted view by CC. Do they think we might manufacture the mounts in competition with CC? That' s a real LOL! Instead of trying to help a potential future customer get back on the road quickly, CC has earned our enmity and ill will.
Both OMC and Kevin Waite, on the other hand, have tried to help us. Our continued thanks to Bob Vinson and his crew at OMC, and to Kevin. We highly recommend both if you need help with anything related to your motorhome. CC? Not so much.
We will reverse engineer the mounts. Will take a little extra time and money, but we have learned that the new CC is much like the old Howard-led CC.

You would think that CC would have sold you and your fabricator a license to manufacture one copy of the part(s).

"NO" seems like an odd business strategy.

Scott To be entirely objective here, neither Monaco, Newell, Tiffen or any manufacturer is going to give you that drawing. Don't blame that only on CC ( New or Old ) They are in the business to make money !! No manufacturer will do what you are asking. It is up to the rest of us here, to circumvent the huge mark-ups that the manufacturers put on replacement parts. If you want a no hassles deal , order the part from them at high prices, or work the system to work around them. Do you think GM is going to send you a drawing of a Pontiac part ? Don't think so !!

I wouldn't think the transmission mounts are rocket science I'm surprised that they were even made by CC. I guess they did produce their own chassis during the later years which could include the mountings. Actually, I don't have the foggiest idea what I'm talking about but i would think any machine shop could duplicate those things. Could they possibly be supplied by the xmisson manufacturer?

Maybe CC meant proprietary to the company that designed the part and are afraid of a lawsuit? But, they could have been discreet/creative about it and tried harder to help you.

As an owner of a CC of that era, I am curious just how you discovered that your transmission mounts needed immediate replacement? What was the deterioration? I now will want to look at mine.

I too, would like to know just how you found out that the mounts needed to be changed out? And how much deterioration has taken place. I currently can't get to MH, but will in the spring. Keep us posted on your findings.

Gentleman, in the message #75798, it states, and please no disrespect intended, but this is how he initially found the problem.

"Our engine mounts required replacement. The are the part that holds the engine in place and attached to the frame. We discovered that when a mechanic, looking for a very slow oil leak, was startled to find the powertrain askew and the engine displaced several inches. He then saw one engine mount was completely broken (it looks like a clear break of 1/4 or 3/8 inch steel) and the passenger side was seriously cracked. We detected no symptoms while driving."

I believe the original post was on 11/23/2011 from Scott Laidig Magna 6354, The following is a paste of the first sentence of that post.
'We discovered that both the transmission mounts on our 2004 Magna need immediate replacement.'
That was followed by a couple of posts asking how he discovered the problem. Following that someone posted regarding their problem with engine mounts carrying the same subject line. So it appears to me that somehow we have mixed responses under the same subject line.
