Need some help. In our 99 Allure, we have a top freezer Dometic 3-way refrigerator. Lately, after being in the AC mode for hours/days, we'll notice the Check light on. When we try and reset it back to AC it will sometimes reset, other times it will jump right to Gas. Sometimes it will stay on AC for 20 sec. or so then jump to Gas. We'll attempt this a half dozen times before it stays in the AC mode. I've checked the AC (50amp service) at the Zantrex remote monitor and it shows power in. There is no load on necessarily when it happens. I've spoken to others in the RV parks this has happened in about the power reliability, and no one has had a similar problem. I've checked in the service bay, cleaned it out, banged on the fuse box, since I can't figure out how to open it, and checked the power cord. All seems to be OK. Could the problem be the circuit board I hear so much about?
We feel this can wait till we get near a service center to have them look into this, since we seem to have Gas as a backup. Or will the circuit board or what ever it is, go out altogether and we could wind up with no frig? This would be a disaster. The left over mac & cheese might spoil.
We are currently in Long Beach, CA, enjoying the cool ocean breeze before heading North to Oregon to see family and then take off to parts unknown.

This isn't your same situation, but may help. While at the recent FMCA Convention with our recently purchased '98 Intrigue (our first dry camping trip with it), our reefer kept conking out while on "Gas." The check light would come on after several hours, but the reefer would easily relight.
Since Dometic factory reps were available, I asked them to check it out.
After removing this and checking that, they decided that the board was bad, so they replaced it. $100 for the board and $30 for labor. And a one year warranty good at any certified Dometic repair facility. Not bad. We're happy.

A hint of advice. Recently a friend was out west in his Pace Arrow and the water heater control board went out. I did some online research and found "Dinosaur" brand boards and when eh returned home he ordered one and installed it himself. I think he said the coast was about the same...$100 dollars...BUT...BUT..

The man from Dinosaur told him that same board can control the "reefer"...the "water heater" AND (I forgot..*blush*) ALL WITH THE SAME BOARD ! You plug the wires into ( for example) tap A &B and that runs (#1)...you plug them into taps C&D and that allows (#2) to operate...same for #3...you just use different taps. That all all spelled out with the instructions. 3 yr warranty from Dinosaur.
Just might be handy to put into one "junk drawer" for emergencies???

Hi Dick,

Thanks for the experience you had. I was near a Camping World and decided to purchase a new board. Did have three days for them to install it. So at least I have one when the original finally gives up. Wouldn't you know, that after my 400 mile drive, the frig is functioning perfectly.
Sorry that the polish didn't do the trick on the plastic lenses. It worked great for me.

I find that the Dometic (mine is side by side) is much more efficient in the gas mode. Rather than fight the park voltage issues (when less than 50 amps is available), I turn the breaker off for the fridge.

No ice cubes, but no worries about spoiled food either.

Try pushing the auto button to force the refer to gas. I think this will work and still keep making ice.
