Solar cooled air

Is it practical or even possible to run roof air with solar panels?

There is not enough real estate on your roof. Way to many panels required to get the job done.

Jim - In theory yes if you could collect adequate power. On a bus forget about it. I've maxed out my roof space (see here: http://muniac.smugmug.com/Travel/Country-Coach-2006-430-Allure/IMG3278/745454737_CQmeJ-M.jpg ) and get about 1.3Kw which is well short of what you'll need to run an A/C unit. Even a small one.

You would need 8 230 watt panels and an 2000 watt solar inverter just to get started est $ 6000 to rerun one AC.
