Update on Carefree OTD awning motor replacement

Yahoo Message Number: 80918
Further to my last message on this (I did not get any responses) I thought i would share the outcome for those that may tread this path in the future?
It became clear that my new replacement motor was either defective or somwhow set wrong on delivery. The motor would retract but not extend! This makes the setting of the limit switchs impossible as you cannot reverse a movement to get the setting correct! My solution was to remove the motor from the winding tube and work on it outside the unit. This enabled me to continually tweak the limit settings until suddenly the motor ran both ways. What I did exactly is still a mystery to me but I would suggest that anyone replacing a tube motor should first connect it up outside the unit and test that it runs both directions!
