Won't start

The ignition was left on while parked for about 12 hours and the chassis battery is dead with 8.4v. I tried the booster switch per the instructions and still nothing. I have it on a charger and after 2 hours on a 3 amp charger it's up o 9.5v.
Should it have completely discharged with nothing much on but the ignition?

Your 3 amp charger is just not going to do. You need a big charger 20 to 30 amp or more, 50 amps would be about right. If you could get the gen running it would charge much faster. Go to Sears or somewhere and invest in a good automotive charger with wheels that has some power. Then fully charge your batteries and then check each cell. Once a 12 v. goes under 12 v. it may kill the battery but fully charge and then test. Do not get a automatic one but one you control the time set etc. The 3 amp could take a week and still not have them up as 3 amp is only a maintenance charge for a fully charged, healthy battery.

One might use jumper cables from a vehicle to charge the batteries, still will take an hour or more to get enough to do any good. Would require a GOOD set of cables, not the thin ones, they would overheat. Battery charger is best, followed by getting gen set going. But with batteries that low it would put a strain on the inverter. Cheaper to get a good charger.

Suspect the starter batteries are just wore out.

If your coach batteries are good, disconnect the neg terminal of the chassis battery before you try to start, the dead battery will pull down the coach battery. Had this happen to my "next door coach" last year and that's what I did to get him started.
