Has anyone seen how a cargo bay door is removed

Yahoo Message Number: 82824
I was looking at the cargo bay doors on my inspire and see a c or j channel hinge and was wondering if the doors can be removed. The reason I ask is I replaced my batteries a few months back and it would have been more conveniant if the door had been removed.
Thanks

Rod,

Let me try to help you on this....
There is a C channel on the Coach side wall There is a J extrusion on the top of the door They mate together to make a hinge At each door the J is shorter in length than the door by a small amount.
Up in the C channel at each end is a small locking tab that makes sure the C and J channel does not come separate in normal use (it is screwed into the upper C channel).

To remove your door:

remove both locks (one on each side of door) the screw and or the block will probably break... disconnect the lift pistons

swing door all the way up and the J is free of the C channel...
you can get replacement C channel and J extrusions from Country Coach if needed by the foot ( had to do this to repair a torn J extrusion.
I may be easier to work with the door in the way than have all the grief when one of the items breaks...IMHO

Hello,

I have removed our bay doors several times to do repairs. All you need to do is remove the clips on the cylinders that push up the doors (they will just be hanging free unless you take the clips off both ends). Then push the door up as far as you can get it (better if you have someone to help you as they are heavy) then when you hit the point where the c channel will slip out of the channel holding it in place it will fall out.

To install just do everything in reverse order.
