Direct TV to Dish TV

Yahoo Message Number: 85647
About a month ago we got a 2006 Inspire and it has the MotoSat system in it along with the Direct TV system, but we have Dish at home. Can I take the Direct receiver out and install the Dish receiver and will it work without jummping through alot hoops. We use the same reciever in our 5er but I have the Winegard Carryout and it works great. Just thought i would ask before i pull things apart. This is a whole new world to me and the wife likes watching tv in the right spot not from a tv sitting on the dash. One more question, when I use my Carryout in those bad TV spots how do you run your cable (through a window) because I don't think there is a hookup for outside Satellite (there is a cable hookup) like my 5er, it has satellite and cable hookups. Thanks for any help on this.

We were able to change form Direct TV to Dish without any problems. Just had the Dish people come out and install their equipment and, I think, set the satellite dish controller to find the Dish satellites.

Call Winegard and give them the numbers off the back of your box and they can tell you what you need to upgrade. I had the Winegard Trav'ler on my rig with DirectTV setup and wanted to switch over to dish... They sent me about $225 worth of new reflector and LNB and after changing those out it works perfectly with my Dish Receiver

Thanks for the help. I'm also thinking about getting another reciever and just adding it to my account. I have called Winegard in the past about my carryout and they are great. If i understand this the MoTOSat will work just need to change some things outside on the dish or maybe switch back to Direct TV.
PS, You have a nice web page.

You will need to change some settings on the Nomad controller, so it finds the correct satellites. You may also need to update the firmware in the Nomad controller. There are several versions of Nomad controllers so you need to identify the one you have to know how to set it up.
Since Motosat has gone through a change in ownership, Name and staff, I can not guide you tho the current info.
If you can find an installer that does or used to do Motosat installs they will be able to fix you up easily.

Thanks for the info, there is alot to learn about this High Tech stuff. So when I go down the Junction City to have the wet PTO installed and some slide work, need to do some checking on places there because everything for motorhomes located in Junction City, Ore.
