Tire pressure and temp

I see a lot about tire pressure but nothing about temp. I have a in fared temp gun from Harbor frieght and when I stop I check temp of all the tires and axles and I wonder what is to hot I have found the side facing the sun runs about 15 degrees hotter and the front wheels of my tow runs the hottest it is a f350 diesel most of the time the temp runs around 100 to 120 but sometime it is 140 to 145

Marvin,

While this is not set in stone: A very general rule of thumb is that a properly inflated/loaded tire, when up to operating temperature - one hour or more of operation - will typically run about 50 - 60 degrees F hotter than the ambient temperature. Anything above 200 degrees F could lead to tire degradation and you need to investigate for a problem.
The method of temperature measurment you are using, Tread (surface) temperature is the least accurate; since measurement is normally performed by a hand-held unit, thus hampering repeatability, plus the question of where do you measure? The ribs will be cooler than the grooves, and the center will be cooler than the shoulders, etc.
I run Bridgestones on my Affinity and while there are many factors, such as ambient temperature, load, speed, air pressure, wheel position and tire pattern that will determine the tread temperature of a truck tire in normal operating conditions, I normally experience surface tread temperatures in the range of 120 to 170 degrees Fahrenheit. I am in New Mexico, and it can get pretty hot here.

Hope this has helped,
Luck,
Bob

Marvin, these all sound normal. You should review the site archives on tire temperatures. There dozens of posts on the subject.
