ISC Coolant.....again!

Ive read all the posting in the archives about this...and admit Im still confused!!

I called C Coach today...explained what I had and they told me it came from them with good old "PRESTONE" in it. So later I called Cummins...explained what I was told ( C Coach said they didnt know what color the 1 gal jugs of Prestone were because they used 55 gal drums) and I asked is this the good old "Yellow Jug" Prestone...and Cummins said YEP! Lo Silicate, Yellow jug Prestone.
He said If I used that Id have to add the concentrate..?? SAC.?? stuff to it and also run replace the coolant filter ( with the gravel in it as I call it) and he said Yep...right on.
We talked about Cummins "Complete" and he said with it..I didnt need the liquid conentrate but still had to change the coolant sytem filter ( i.e. gravel can...*S*) So my question is this..?

Why dont I just replace what I have with fresh Yellow Jug Prestone?? (After a proper drain; flush, etc. etc. etc)

Here's my one cent worth: I did the whole flush thing this summer and replaced the fluid with HD low silicate purchased at Checker Auto Parts. It was about $8.00 per gallon less than Cummins brand.
As I understand the matter, you want to avoid the adverse chemical reaction created around the cylinder liners when standard yellow is used. To do that, you should run HD Low Silicate coolant and change the filter every couple of oil changes. There is a great deal of mis-information about it. I talked to a mechanic who works the line at Cummins and has been to their schools. He advised me to do just as many other posts (from Fred Kovol in particular) have pointed out. He advised against any other process. He also said that they see lots of engines with standard anti-freeze in them. The owners just don't know what to use and it would take a long time for the wrong stuff to have an adverse effect, according to him.
It looks like any brand of Low Silicate HD coolant should work if you do a complete drain/flush. Change the filter of course. That's good maintenance anyway, No?
BTW, I'd take the advise of Cummins any day over someone working at CC. I've found that the manufacturer/supplier always knows more about their own product. The CC tech's do a great job, but look at the thousands of things they have to know about!

Good maintenance should include testing and records of the results. Having those records can save you a lot of problems if you lose a liner or cooling system component.

I'll refer back to one of my earlier post...

If you are going to follow the procedure and correctly flush the coolant system anyway...my question would be why not just use the extended life antifreeze from Cummins or Cat...you can buy it premixed at 50/50 and it already has the additive...and with a gallon on board, if you need to add antifreeze, then what you are adding is correct in mix and DCA's...????...Oh by the way...it needs changing every 300,000 miles....I think the standard stuff is recommended to be changed every 12,000 or so....?????

ok. i read all of this about what to do what not to
do, so i took the rv to cummins mid-south, memphis, tn. ask them to do the work and put back, whaT cummins said to be in mY commins 330 hp. isc... they did the work, but first i was asked if????//i had the lone lasting ant. i said no but i would like to have it. answer was if it was not being used from the start it was not a good thing to do. way??it well eat the seal out, this is way WE well do not use it.. I have been told that if you switch from regular to long life coolant, you had better make sure you absolutely get all of the old coolant out. The two do not mix and you will have serious problems is the system is not completely cleaned out.
