New 2003 Lexa problem - Velvac side mirror repair/parts

I might have accidentally hit my driver's mirror with the bucket of my tractor while mowing the lawn yesterday, and snapped the vertical shaft the holds the base of the mirror assembly to the arm. So again it'll be a little tough to do my day trip J

I can find a new Velvac 715219 side mirror for a measly $998 at http://www.velvacrvmirrors.com/product-p/42288.htm
but I'm thinking I might try a marine metal stuctural epoxy repair, to see if I can get it drivable.
My question is: is this repairable with just replacing that one shaft piece (and is it available), or do I need the entire mirror assembly? A big glob of structural epoxy will likely require that the entire mirror assembly be replaced, as I'll have multiple components (the shaft, the outer shell, and the top of the arm) all glommed together, so if this could easily be repaired without that, I might give it a shot.
I'm wondering if the 'Inner Support Plate' and/or Pivot Clamp might be what I need, a couple of the pdf links at https://secure.velvac.com/checkout/front/search/index.cfm?Action=View&b2c_parts_part=715219 aren't working,

http://velvac.thomasnet.com/Asset/Replace%20Inner%20Support%20Plate.pdf looks like it MIGHT be the plate all the way including the post but I can't really tell.

Call Joe at Northwest RV supply in Eugene/Springfield Oregon. He has shelf after shelf of Mirrors, the arms, base plates etc. He used to buy left over parts from CC, Monaco, Beaver, Safari and Western Alpine. There are some surplus places near Elkhart Indiana, Middlebury and Naponee, where Coachman, Newmar and others are located. I think Monaco is in that area. too. 541-746-9092.

You could look here for the mirror... maybe they are cheaper than where you are looking..
