Toyo M144 Tyres

Has anybody had experiences with the TOYO M144 Tyres on their Coach?? Bob Dickman in Junction City is offering them.
The particular size of interest is: 295/80R 22.5; 16 ply, Load Rating H.
Ride comfort is of interest to my Co-Pilot. I could care less about ride harshness.

I had TOYOs on the Coach when it was new, the ride was a little rough, then I mistakenly replaced then with GOODYEAR, 74K miles (7 yrs) ago.
Got my Monies worth from those GOODYEARs.
The front axle GOODYEARs "Rippled" on the edges by 30K and I rotated then to the back and the new front ones again did a "ripple" pattern on the edges & the ones that went to the back continued the edge pattern. I would not ever buy another GOODYEAR RV Tyre..
Yes, I know about the FMCA Michelin Advantage program. The TOYO deal is better, as time is going to dictate their replacement not Mileage..
I've chosen Dickman because of the need for Smart Tire sensor replacements, on the Coach & Towed..

I just had the Toyos 144 installed about a month and a half ago. I had Toyos as the original on my Inspire. Had some Continentals installed @ over $5400.00 could never get them balanced and they would never seat properly on the wheels, Had three shops work on them and the Dickman replaced them with the M 144's. I am a happy camper. Never had one issue with the originals and with 300 miles on the M144s it was like night and day.

Good luck with the toyos, but I never had a set that was satisfactory. CC sent me so many replacements

for my 98 Allure I've lost track. The 275 R80's Continentals I used on my Allure were great. The toyos on

the Intrigue didn't do well either, not that the Michelins were any better they just lasted a little longer.

The Continentals I'm using now are doing very well. 315R 80's. Sorry to hear about the 295'not s issues.

I had some 19.5 inch Coopers on a Ford that were as troublesome. 6 sets and they still would not ride

smooth or drive in a true straight line. So I went back to Michelins. To Tell the truth in 45 years the 12R XZ2 were the only set of Michelins that double crossed me. TWI 204 Intrigue 11731

We didn't like the original Toyos on our '04 CC for the same reasons you gave. Plus they had a sewer smell to them. We called Pat at Pro Tire in Denton TX and told him we had Toyos on our RV and he said "you have a Country Coach, don't you?"... We asked him about options and he suggested B F Goodrich ST230's load range H. B F Goodrich is owned by Michelin and the tires are made in the USA. Mid price. We have put over 50,000 miles on the Goodrich and are very pleased with the ride and wear. No more cupping on the right front. One important note. On our 33' coach we do have to have the toe-in checked and set every 2 years. Pat at Pro Tire came to our RV site, changed all 6 tires and did a laser alignment at the same time.

On my second set of TOYO. never a flat, no sidewall cracking, never rotated them, did not ware the first set out in 45000 mi. Replaced first set after seven and half yr. Second set still going with 30000 mi.

I have the Toyo M124z tires on my coach. They were installed about 6 months before I purchased the coach 6 years ago. After 30k plus miles, the tread still looks new. I started to notice fine checking in the side wall this summer. So I searched for the date code. The tires are 13 years old (I know I should have checked the date sooner). Check the date code before they are mounted. I have no complaints about the ride or longevity. They have served me well.
I always keep my tire pressures at the max to keep the rolling tire temperature as low as possible.
I am still researching what I will replace them with. I have been absorbing the input from this site to make my choice. As I want to use the coach soon, I am going to have to decide.

Greg, I recommend you change them now! Do not drive them at highway speed. I had a blowout on a 7 year old Toyo on my way to have new tires installed. I was lucky to have not suffered damage to the coach or worse.

I also had two four year old Toyo front tires blow out on our 2004 Inspire and caused $30,000.00 damage to the coach. That is why I say "Just Say no to Toyo"

About 3 1/2 years ago when we were researching tires for out 04 Allure (40' with Tag), we had the BF Goodrich as our second choice.

We had an allowance for a set of tires as part of the terms of purchase. BF Goodrich, Continentals (Had just came out with a tire that would work for our coach, but not much info then. Hear good things about these from those that have them.), or another set of Toyo's. I took the allowance, and chipped in the difference to buy a set of Michelins XZE*. I wanted the extra strength, yes with a bit stiffer tire ride, of the "*" sidewalls. A few clips of a curb on a tight corner, can really damage a tire. My tire guys confirmed these would handle a bit more abuse than the other tires.

If shopping today, I'd take a good look at the BF Goodrich and Continentals, and probably choose one of these this time around.
