kitchen cabinet roll-outs (honey-do #8)

Per the request of a higher authority (my wife), I have added pullout drawers in the kitchen of our coach. I knew this would make it much nicer for Lenore to reach things, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they now hold much more. I now have two empty cabinets by the table that I have claimed for my "stuff". I have posted some pictures for anyone who may be thinking of the same project. (Harris folder)

Wow - the cabinets are fabulous! Did you build them yourself? Do you hire out? In my home (land-home), I have several pull-out shelves, but they only have about a 2-inch lip. Your idea to basically build drawers is so clever as they would really hold more "stuff" and nothing will slide around while driving. I hope CC sees your idea.

Thanks,

The drawers are just 1/2" plywood (clear birch). I made each as a unit, on a 1/2" base, the full-extension slides are mounted to pieces that are 2" high by 7/8 wide, they are mounted to the base, and the drawer slides between them. That way, I was able to build them in my home workshop, and then just set them on the existing shelves, and screw the assembly down. It was not as harb as you may think. The slides are available at home depot.

Great job, Bill. I bet you enjoyed making them a lot more than I enjoyed paying Davis Cabinets make mine! I only got 2 under the stove. The ones in the "pantry" would really be helpful. I really would like to have some under the sink but the cost was too high for the amount of storage I would have gained.

Thanks, Ree

I am now on #9: today I removed the bedroom window surrounds (everything, wood frame, shade, etc.) I am going to remake them out of Cherry, with fluted sides, a new upholstered cornice, and replace the pleated shades with motorized Hunter Douglas Silhouette shades.
The Silhouettes are deeper than the old shades, so I had to remake the wood surround to accommodate them.
