Need New Dual/Tag Tires

It's that time again, need 6 good/lowest price dual/tag tires - 295/80R/22.5 tires. Any recommendations? Is the FMCA Michelin price the best $$??

We bought Michelins thru FMCA and although not the cheapest brand we are extremely happy with them.

Before we bought the Michelins we bought BF Goodrich ST230's load range H at the recommendation of Pat at Pro Tire in Denton TX who put tires on Prevost coaches. He knows his tires! We were very happy with the ST230's and would have purchased them again. They are much cheaper than Michelins. They are owned by Michelin and made in the USA. Pat put on our tires at the RV park where we were staying. Very convenient.

The reason we like the Michelins better is that Lonny thinks they ride a bit better and aren't as stiff. I really can't tell much difference.

Not sure if the BF Goodrich are included in the FMCA discount program but worth checking.

Lee I did Toyos in that exact size and they've proven to be a good tire over 8000 miles so far. Much less than FMCA Michelins and they came OEM in 2003 when we originally purchased our coach. Safe travels.

By how much did they beat FMCA?

Putting on M144 by Toyo this week. 295/80R/22.5. From my dealer $535 all in mounted, balanced and new stems. Considerably less than the Michelin or Continentals

Lee,
I put 2 m 144 on my coach from Les Schaub in Oregon. He highly recommended.  Only have 25 months and 20k miles with no issues.

Any chance you can go to 315's? Found them to be less than 295's. Might pay to check.

For the Duals/Tags, another brand worth researching is Hankook's. As I recall, they had 12R's available for sure, but don't recall if they had 295/80's.

I went from 12R's to 295/80's on this set. Michelin XZA2's via FMCA.

Another option for those positioned tires, are the FMCA BF Goodrich ST230's. I have 2 of these on our Tag. (Had of my Michelin XZE2*'s damaged by pot hole impact, during the Michelin shortage. The Tire Manager at TCI in Denver area recommended I consider the Hankook's, but since I had researched the ST230's when I was buying my XZE's - i knew they were a solid choice. Since then, I've researched Hankook's, and feel they would be a good budget friendly choice for those positions. For Steers, for now, I'll stay with Michelin's).

Between BF Goodrich and ST230's, I'd go with the best price between them. TCI Tire Center (Was owned by Michelin, but that may have recently changed.) obviously carry Michelin products, including BF Goodrich which Michelin owns, and supports the FMCA program. They also carry, or did, Hankook's - so one stop shopping.

When my time for tires come again, I'll shop for both 12R's and 295/80's to see what is around then:)!

Happy hunting,
Smitty

We have Mich on the steer and I recently replaced the drive and steer tags with Toyo 295/80s (last season). I have been pleased with their performance thus far. Got the Toyos at Les Schwab considerably cheaper than the same size Michelins (which were on national backorder at the time)

Thanks to the dozen responses. The main support went to M144 Toyos. So I went to my local dealer for 6 for the dual/tag axles. $457 plus $111/ea. for mounting, balancing, disposals, state and local taxes, etc.
Thx again,
Lee Z
