Electric Slide Problem

Chasing down recurring failure of electric slides to extend/retract, I discovered wrong size fuse/breaker.

My Allure 36' #31031 has electric slides. Three times I had a failure to extend or retract. I was able to take the problem to Lazydays each time. Twice they replaced the Bosch control relays.
The third time, while waiting overnight in their service bay, I found the problem myself.

The electrical schematic in the owners manual calls for a 20 Amp fuse/breaker in the slide drive motors circuit. The drawing glued to the inside cover of the fuse panel calls for 10 Amp. Mine had 10 Amp. When swapped with 20 it now works fine. Apparently the draw is right on the edge near 10 Amps so when there is extra load on the motor (perhaps when coach slightly unleveled) the breaker trips.

So far, the 20 Amp is working.

I tried to charge Lazydays $99/hr for my labor, but they simply smiled!!

In late 03 CC issued Warranty Bulletin 03-11 which called for the replacement of the original 20 amp breaker on the BR slide on your coach with a 10 amp breaker. Included in the change was a new lable showing this configuration for the fuse/breaker box.
Apparently this modification was made on you coach either at the factory or at the dealer prior to delivery. I was advised by the factory that while the circuit wiring would handle the amperage, the slide motor was rated at only 10 amps and could burn out if not limited this amount of current. The living room slide remains at 20 amps but for some reason is fused rather than having a breaker installed. The wiring schematics were prepared prior to this change.

I made these changes on my coach myself with factory supplied parts with the following observations.....

- the BR slide will only operate with the ignition key "on" but without the engine running.
On the other hand, the living room slide will operate either with the ignition key simply on or with the engine running.

- My coach, as built, had the 4 Bosch slide relays wired mirror image to that shown in the schematics which was problematic when I also had to troubleshoot and replace 2 of these Bosch relays that had failed.

- It was also necessary to spray the nylon/plastic blocks on which the BR slide operates with silicone lubricant to reduce the amount of torque the electric motor had to overcome to get the slide moving for reliable operation with the 10 amp breaker. The lubricant can be applied to the blocks both under the bed and from the outside through the lower slide seal. The friction points are obvious as they leave scuff marks on the bottom of the slide.
After doing this I 've had no problems with the 10 A breaker for the BR slide.

Thanks for reply. Hmmmmmm... your message suggests that the BR and LR slides are fused/breaker separatly. When my slide refuses to work.... BOTH will not work. I replaced the 10A breaker (in rear compartment, above Bosch relays) with a 20 A..... perhaps inappropriately. But WHERE is the 20Amp fuse for the LR slide?

Yes, I too discovered the upside down/reversed wiring pictorial for the relays.
