My Engineering training would tell me that the Engine is running too rich on fuel and having incomplete combustion. Now that is the simple explanation to the situation. Now for CAT engineering to figure out why their complex computer control engine management system is making it happen is the Hard Part...

Gosh in the old days if we had a diesel that smoked too much a little adjusting of some screws and we were good to go. But now we have to rely on the computer. Has life been made simpliar???????
