than I thought they would be, (snip)
I don't know if this suggestion will help you, but ... the two roof air/heat pump units on our '98 Intrigue are interducted, and unless conditions are severe, we usually only run the unit that's in the end opposite to where we are, closing or opening the ceiling registers accordingly. This is especially nice when we're sleeping ... and the noise is in the living room instead of the bedroom.

While we've not owned a motorhome with basement air/heat pump, I think I'd rather have the additional basement storage space. And, although locating the units in the basement lowers the center of gravity, I don't consider it a big deal in such a heavy rig.

The rooftop cargo carriers used on cars ARE a big deal, however, especially since they're used most often on SUVs which are already top heavy. This point was emphasized when *Consumer Reports* tested the carriers.

We do that with our roof airs....makes it not quite so noisy.
The basement air in our previous coach was very quiet, but a bear to work on! Always trade offs! We are glad to have such basement storage, that is for sure! We bought this coach sight unseen except for pix and have sure been pleased. It surpassed our expectations a mile!
