Interior trim fabric re-do

I want to change the trim motif on my window valances and curtain decor fabric, to update/change the interior trim offset colors a bit on my 2000 Intrigue Millenium Editon. My question is this > has anyone done this themselves, by sourcing newer material, and just re-doing/recovering the backing panels? are they stapled or screwed or glued? I'm thinking I can do all this in my garage myself, and not farm it out to an upholstry shop... looking for experienced opinions,

Jim,

My 98 Intrigue had plywood that was screwed together using small "L" brackets. The fabric was stapled over foan backing. All in all, fairly easy to remove but lots of staples. You may want new foan backing as well. You can do all this yourself. I replaced all of mine with custom oak valances to match the cabinets.
